Top 5 highlights of the Skoda Epiq EV

1. New design and platform

Skoda’s first-ever electric car is the new Epiq, and it is based on Volkswagen’s MEB+ platform. This platform is already in use on the VW ID.Cross EV, and it houses a fast charging capability for the car.

Speaking of the design, the Epiq is based on the ‘Modern Solid’ design with the ‘Tech Desk Face’. The latter includes the new front fascia and the T-shaped LED lights on both ends.

The Epiq is a crossover, and it boasts a design identical to the conventional crossover SUVs like the Skoda Kushaq. The production-spec car has a slim front grille with a big lower grille that embodies the air dams.

Meanwhile, the side profile packs the conventional door handles, functional roof rails, and rim sizes ranging from 17-inch to 19-inch. The rear profile has a roof-integrated spoiler, Skoda lettering on the tailgate, and a sporty bumper.

2. Perfect crossover size for families

The new Skoda Epiq boasts a perfect size for urban use and small families. In terms of dimensions, it measures 4,171 mm in length, 1,798 mm in width, 1,581 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,601 mm, which makes it a comfortable everyday electric vehicle for commutes.

Moreover, the 475-litre cargo space and the 25-litre frunk, or front trunk, offer ample luggage ferrying capacity.

3. Plush interior and modern features

On the inside, the Epiq electric crossover packs a modern design with a roomy cabin layout. It features a clean dashboard design with a floating 13-inch infotainment console that provides wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, along with wireless charging, ambient lights, panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, electric tailgate, and more.

The Epiq EV also gets the smart safety features. These include the Level 2 ADAS safety features like the adaptive cruise control, lane assist, blind-spot assist, rear-cross traffic alert, auto emergency braking, collision detection, traffic sign recognition, and more.

4. Battery specifications, range, and charging

Powering the Epiq EV are two battery packs: 35.8 kWh and 55 kWh. The former is available in two variants: 35 and 40, while the latter will be sold in a single variant.

The 35.8 kWh battery pack offers 114 bhp on the ‘35’ variant, and 133 bhp on the ‘40’ variant. Meanwhile, both variants offer 267 Nm torque and 310 km range.

On the other hand, the 55 kWh battery pack offers 208 bhp and 290 Nm, while the claimed range stands at 440 km. Both battery packs support DC rapid charging, while the 55 kWh battery pack can be charged 10-80% in just 24 minutes.

Skoda has also packed the Epiq with the Vehicle-to-Load or V2L charging, which can charge external appliances from the car, like camping equipment, etc.

5. Middle East launch details

As of now, the Epiq has been unveiled for the European market. The brand is suspected to launch it in other countries soon. Currently, we are unsure whether Skoda will launch it in the UAE or not. However, the growing demand for EVs in the region is surely inspiring the brand to launch the Epiq here.
