2025 Nissan Patrol Y63: UAE recall explained

As per the details, Nissan Motor Corp., Japan, has identified numerous vehicles sold internationally with defects. One such model is the new-generation Patrol Y63 model, which is highly popular in the UAE.
The recall initiated is due to the torque transfer control unit malfunction. This is the part of the 4X4 drivetrain that connects the front and rear drivetrains and transfers the torque when the driver presses the accelerator.
However, due to a software malfunction, this unit may not respond, and the power may fall to ‘zero’, resulting in the loss of motion or giving a sense of a complete breakdown. It is a serious issue as it can prove fatal in certain situations.
Hence, the Ministry of Economy has stepped in and issued a public warning for all Nissan Patrol owners to get their vehicles checked. As of now, a total of 1,661 units have been identified that are prone to this issue.
