Expanding its global product portfolio, Volvo has teased a new upcoming plug-in hybrid model. The new 2025 Volvo XC70 crossover is set to launch in the global market later this year.

2025 Volvo XC70 - Design

The upcoming XC70 is likely to be a successor model to the old V70 station wagon. 

As visible in the teaser images, the XC70 features the iconic design language of the brand as it emerges into a sophisticated crossover.

The front fascia emulates a closed grille with the Volvo badge and the trademark Thor-hammer LED DRLs, with the vertical LED headlamps. 

The interesting thing will be how Volvo will manage the cooling system as the XC70 will feature an ICE powertrain.

The side profile of the XC70 impersonates a crossover which focuses on luxury and comfort for the rear passengers. 

At the rear, it features a C-shaped connected LED taillight and an aerodynamic bumper design.

2025 Volvo XC70 - Interiors and features

The cabin of the XC70 is likely to be inspired by the new XC60 PHEV's cabin. It will feature a light beige interior theme with leather upholstery and the latest interior design.

Other critical features are likely to include a digital cockpit, a big vertical infotainment screen with OTA updates, ambient lights, electric and ventilated seats, multi-zone climate control, Level 2 ADAS safety suite, and more.

2025 Volvo XC70 - Hybrid engine details

Although Volvo has not revealed the details about the PHEV powertrain, which is going to be used on the XC70, it will use a plug-in hybrid electric motor.

The company claims that this electric motor can drive the XC70 up to 200 km purely on the EV power.

We assume that the XC70 will use the 18.8 kWh battery pack used on the XC60 PHEV, along with a petrol engine and an automatic gearbox.

Volvo XC70 - UAE launch timeline and price

As of now, Volvo has a target to launch the XC70 in the Chinese car market by the end of this year. However, the other prominent markets like the UAE will witness the launch of the XC70 by the end of 2026.
