What do we know about the next-generation Chevrolet Camaro?

As per the latest report published online, General Motors is working on the seventh generation of the Camaro ‘pony car’. The previous generation Camaro was phased out in 2023, and now the brand is working on a new platform that will host the next generation Camaro, a Buick sedan, and even the new Cadillac CT5 sedan.

As far as the details are concerned, the new Camaro will be based on an all-new chassis. This chassis could possibly be based on the previous model’s Alpha platform, which is widely popular for its fantastic handling and balance.

Moreover, it is being reported that Camaro would evolve as a new sub-brand, and since the platform will be shared with the next-gen Cadillac CT5, a two-door Camaro could be followed by a crossover four-door version in the future. As of now, the brand is reported to be finalising the clay models and the styling for homologation.

In terms of engine power, the next-gen Camaro is likely to continue using the V8 engine. However, a hybrid tech could be incorporated into the V8 engine to make it more efficient and powerful. But the complete electrification plans of the Camaro have been dropped due to the continuous downfall in the demand for EVs worldwide.

With that said, the next-gen Dodge Challenger, a primary rival of the Camaro, is moving to a new platform, which will house an EV and an inline-six hybrid powertrains. Hence, the Camaro, using a V8 engine, will shorten the gap between the Ford Mustang and the Dodge Challenger.

When will it launch?

The report claims that General Motors is planning to take the new-gen Camaro into production by the fall of 2027. However, it won’t be anytime sooner than 2027-end that we get to see the new Camaro hit the road.

With that said, the Chevy Camaro enjoys a strong brand value and demand in the Middle East as well. Therefore, it is safe to assume that it will be launched in the UAE and the other Middle Eastern markets by the end of 2027 or early 2028.

Cars24 UAE says

Chevy Camaro has been a popular and iconic sports car brand in the Middle East. Its powerful 6.2L V8 engine provides hypercar-like acceleration and handling, which makes it popular among the rental sports car options. We suspect that the new-gen Camaro will return to the UAE next year.
