Toyota has officially commenced interest registrations for the Land Cruiser FJ in the UAE and Saudi Arabia. The Toyota Land Cruiser FJ was introduced earlier this year with a short wheelbase and a ladder-frame chassis, offering practical 4x4 applications and city-friendly drivability.

What is the Toyota Land Cruiser FJ?

After officially launching the Land Cruiser FJ in Iraq, Toyota is now preparing to launch it in the UAE and KSA. The brand has made a specifications page live in KSA, along with online interest registrations for UAE and KSA buyers.

The Land Cruiser FJ is a compact ladder-frame off-road SUV that was introduced earlier this year. It is based on the IMV platform, which is also used on the Toyota Hilux and Toyota Fortuner. The Land Cruiser FJ has a 250 mm shorter wheelbase compared to the Land Cruiser Prado 270.

The Land Cruiser FJ has been styled with a retro appeal, featuring boxy proportions and functional off-road-friendly features like rugged bumpers, off-road body cladding, spacious wheel arches, a tailgate-mounted spare wheel, and functional roof rails. Toyota has also added modern bits like LED projector headlights, LED taillights, etc.

The cabin of the Land Cruiser FJ has been designed for five passengers, offering spacious seating, fabric upholstery, and features like a 12.3-inch digital infotainment screen, a digital driver cockpit, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, etc. With the second row down, it can accommodate up to 758 litres of cargo, which makes it suitable for families in the Middle East.

Is the Toyota Land Cruiser FJ powerful?

Powering the Land Cruiser FJ is a tried-and-tested 2.7-litre four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine (listed for KSA). This engine makes 164 bhp and 245 Nm, and it will be offered with a 6-speed automatic transmission only.

Since it is a Land Cruiser, the FJ will also get the part-time 4WD with electronic rear differential lock, drive and traction modes, and additional frame bracing for improved rigidity and reduced vibrations. The Land Cruiser FJ rides on 18-inch wheels with alloy rims and highway terrain tyres, making a good combination to tackle the rugged terrain of the Middle East.
