What to expect from the new Toyota Land Cruiser models?

As per an online report published by a Japanese media company, Toyota is silently working on two new models, which include a new SUV and a pickup truck. Interestingly, both of these models are likely to be called with the Land Cruiser suffix.
Toyota’s Land Cruiser nameplate is one of the oldest and iconic 4x4 brands worldwide. All of the LCs ever made are based on the ladder-frame chassis. However, this will not be the case with these new models.
The report claims that the biggest change on these models will be in the form of a unibody chassis, which will be tailored to suit the urban needs, while also catering for the off-road requirements.

So, what will these models look like? We firmly believe that the new SUV and the pickup truck will be based on the concept models showcased at the 2023 Japan Mobility Show. The Land Cruiser Se concept shall bear the new SUV, while the pickup will be based on the Toyota EPU concept.
Additionally, the pickup truck will take a lot of inspiration from the EPU concept, including the length, which is believed to be more than 5 meters. Moreover, it is likely to feature an extendable flatbed for multipurpose use.
Electric Land Cruiser coming soon?
The online report also hints that the new unibody chassis will be structured in a way that it will support the EV architecture. It is suspected to be a modified version of the TNGA-e platform. Hence, the possibility of an electric Land Cruiser in the future can not be denied.
The brand has recently unveiled its first-ever electric Hilux, which clears the air around Toyota not making mass EVs. Moreover, these new LC models will have a separate identity from the current Land Cruiser models.
We recently witnessed the new-gen Corolla unveil, which supports multiple powertrains, including hybrid and BEV. Hence, a similar structure is expected to be offered with the new Land Cruiser models.
When will these launch?
Toyota’s internal sources have reported that the new-gen three-row Land Cruiser SUV is likely to launch in 2026 to celebrate the 75-year anniversary of the Land Cruiser name.
Meanwhile, the new pickup truck could debut by 2027 around the globe. Both models will eventually launch in the Middle Eastern markets as well.
Cars24 UAE says
The new Land Cruiser models are likely to revolutionize the iconic nameplate by offering a more refined and purposeful performance and comfort. Toyota is perfect is offering a fine balance between practicality and utility, which these new Land Cruisers will definitely offer.
