BMW has not yet confirmed the UAE pricing of the 5th-generation X5. The SUV will be introduced through AGMC and Abu Dhabi Motors, with the first variants expected to reach the market in late November 2026.

The initial announcement focuses on the X5 40 xDrive, featuring a six-cylinder petrol mild-hybrid powertrain. Further details about the UAE variant lineup, equipment packages and pricing are expected closer to the market launch.

BMW X5 40 xDrive engine and performance

The new BMW X5 40 xDrive uses a 3.0-litre TwinPower Turbo inline-six petrol engine paired with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system. An electric motor integrated into the 8-speed automatic transmission provides additional assistance during acceleration and improves power delivery.

The combined output stands at 400hp and 580Nm of torque. BMW's xDrive all-wheel-drive system sends power to all four wheels, allowing the SUV to accelerate from 0–100km/h in 5.3 seconds. Its claimed top speed is 250km/h.

The 5th-generation BMW X5 introduces a new exterior design inspired by the brand's Neue Klasse design language. The front features a more upright appearance, an illuminated Iconic Glow kidney grille and distinctive double-X lighting signatures.

The redesigned bodywork also incorporates BMW Winglet door handles, giving the sides a cleaner appearance. Automatic door opening and closing is available as an optional feature.

Another notable addition is the two-square-metre panoramic glass sunroof, offered as standard according to the UAE launch information. The overall design retains the X5's familiar large SUV proportions while introducing more contemporary styling details.

The new BMW X5 receives a significantly updated interior, with a greater focus on digital displays and connected technology. One of its main features is BMW Panoramic Vision, which projects important driving information across the lower section of the windscreen.

The system works alongside a central display, while an optional passenger touchscreen introduces a separate entertainment and information interface for the front passenger.

Other cabin highlights include slate and crystal-glass decorative finishes, ambient lighting and a redesigned multifunction steering wheel. Rear passengers also benefit from the Travel & Comfort System, which includes magnetic smartphone holders and USB-C charging facilities.

Five powertrain options planned for the new BMW X5

One of the biggest changes for the 5th-generation X5 is its expanded powertrain lineup. BMW has developed the model to accommodate five different drive technologies, giving buyers more options depending on their driving requirements.

The planned lineup includes petrol and diesel engines with 48V mild-hybrid assistance, plug-in hybrid technology, a fully electric version and a hydrogen-powered model.

The all-electric BMW iX5 60 xDrive will use the sixth-generation BMW eDrive system, with a claimed range of up to 845km. It will also feature 800V technology, fast charging and bidirectional charging.

The plug-in hybrid and fully electric versions are scheduled to follow the first market variants in early 2027. The hydrogen-powered iX5 is planned for a later introduction.

Advanced driver assistance and suspension technology

The new BMW X5 comes with adaptive suspension as standard, designed to balance ride comfort and handling. BMW has also retained an axle-load distribution close to 50:50 to support its driving dynamics.

Buyers can opt for additional Adaptive Chassis Control technology, while the Adaptive Chassis Control Professional system adds roll stabilisation to improve body control, initially for the electric and plug-in hybrid versions.

The SUV also introduces BMW Symbiotic Drive, which combines driver inputs with Level 2 driver-assistance technology. Depending on the selected equipment, available features include:

  • Driving Assistant Plus: Adaptive speed and distance control with lane-keeping support.
  • Parking Assistant Plus: Surround-view cameras and assisted parking manoeuvres.
  • Parking Assistant Professional: Remote parking functionality through the My BMW App.
  • Recording and security functions: Accident footage, parking-collision recordings and app notifications.

These systems are designed to provide additional assistance, although the driver remains responsible for controlling the vehicle.
