General Motors has unveiled the next-generation 2027 Silverado 1500 pickup truck for the global market with substantial changes and the most powerful engine ever. The new Silverado promises to deliver more power, luxury, and performance, and it is likely to be launched in the Middle East next year.

2027 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 new engines: The biggest upgrade

The biggest upgrade that the new-generation Silverado brings with it is the two new, bigger, and more powerful engines, which will replace the existing ‘L84’ 5.3-litre and ‘L85’ 6.2-litre engines. The new 5.5-litre and 6.7-litre V8 engines are believed to offer more power and performance. 

However, the brand has not revealed its exact power and torque figures yet; it is widely suspected that the 6.7-litre engine will offer more than 450 bhp. This engine will also be used on the next-generation Corvette C9 Stingray.

Additionally, GM will continue to offer the 2.7-litre turbo petrol and 3.0-litre turbo diesel engine options for the American market. These engines will power the lower-spec work trucks.

New platform, updated exterior design

Chevy has reworked the chassis of the new-gen Silverado 1500. The new platform is claimed to offer better capability and improved ride quality, something that the Silverado owners have been longing for.

In terms of the exterior design, it now packs a set of new LED headlights, a new front grille, new bumpers, a set of new LED taillights, and a black strip stretching across the tailgate. The lights and the grille differ as per the variants. Not to mention, the wheel design is also changed as per the variants.

More luxurious interior, modern tech

On the inside, the new 2027 Silverado 1500 packs a redesigned dashboard. It features the new connected dual screens, which include a massive 16.3-inch infotainment screen, a 12.2-inch digital driver console, and an 11.5-inch passenger entertainment screen. The latter is only available on the new ‘ZR’ off-road variant.

The ‘ZR’ variant is the latest flagship model, which is positioned as the “most capable off-road” version of the Silverado. It packs the flagship features like a head-up display, a digital rear view mirror, wireless phone charging pad with cooling, electric seats with memory, seat ventilation and heating, heated mirrors and steering, etc.

2027 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 lineup

Chevrolet will offer seven grades of the 2027 Silverado 1500 internationally: Work Truck, Custom, Custom Trail Boss, Trail Boss, Silverado, LTZ, and the new ZR2.

The LTZ will be offered as the most luxurious version, offering the 22-inch machined alloy wheels, a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, a variant-specific Tritan Satin front grille, optional suede trim, and tan-edged seat belts.

Meanwhile, the new ZR2 is the top-spec off-road variant that packs a dedicated hood dome for better air intake, a 2-inch factory-fitted lift kit, 35-inch mud-terrain wheels, front and rear electronically locking differentials, carbon fibre interior trim, and Multimatic DSSV dampers.

When will the new 2027 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 launch?

General Motors will launch the new 2027 Silverado 1500 in the US later this year. It will go on sale in the other priority markets, like Australia, by the first half of 2027.

We assume that the new Silverado will be released in the Middle East by mid-2027. The current Silverado 1500 is priced at AED 174,300-260,400 in the UAE, and the new model is expected to be priced a little higher than it.
