What to expect from the new 2027 Volvo XC40?

The XC40 crossover SUV has been present in the international market for nearly a decade. However, there is still time before Volvo decides to axe it. We say this because an updated test car was spotted recently in Spain with mild cosmetic changes, and it is suspected that Volvo will launch it soon in the global market.
The black-coloured car seen in the spy shots is almost production-ready, and Volvo engineers have not camouflaged it much. The nip and tuck changes are visible on the outside, which includes a set of new LED headlights, a new front grille that is covered, and a new front bumper that now boasts a more streamlined design.

Similarly, the rear profile has received a set of smoked LED taillights and a redesigned bumper. The rest of the car is unaltered. Even the alloy wheels on the test car were used from the current model, but we can expect a set of new wheels on the launch version.
A faint glimpse of the inside shows a bigger infotainment console. It is possibly a bigger 11.2-inch portrait-styled screen that will replace the current 9-inch screen. It is likely to be the same system that we saw on the new XC60.

With the new infotainment screen, the XC40 is also likely to debut Google built-in and faster processing with an updated chipset. Additionally, the cabin materials are likely to be revised with new textures, new colours, and new theme options. Along with these changes, we also expect it to get new feature additions like wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, wireless charging, etc.
Since it will be a cosmetic update only, the new XC40 will remain unchanged mechanically. It is powered by a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo petrol engine that also gets 48V mild-hybrid tech, producing 197 bhp and 300 Nm.
When will it launch?
We expect the updated Volvo XC40 will arrive by the end of this year in China and other international markets. Since Volvo enjoys a decent market share in the Middle East, we believe that the new XC40 will land in the UAE early next year with a slight revision to its pricing, which currently stands at AED 180,000-260,000.
