What is the new Sharjah number plate design?

With a futuristic vision, Sharjah Police has made it mandatory to update the car number plates with the new design. The new Sharjah number plate design offers easy lettering with more visibility and a sophisticated design that is likely to improve the service quality for every car driver in the future.

The process of transitioning into the new car number plates began on February 16, 2026, by the Vehicle Licensing Department of Sharjah RTA. Speaking of the design of the new number plate, it embodies the artistic elements while keeping the old colour theme alive. The new plate is sleeker due to its horizontal numbering system, while the old Sharjah number plates had two rows of numbering system.

As far as the details are concerned, the local police have informed the motorists to switch to the new number plate design. Sharjah car owners can visit the following centres to update their old license plates to the new ones:

- Shajah Classic Car Club
- Tasjeel Village in Khorfakkan

As of now, car owners can directly visit the above-mentioned centres during working hours to update their plates. Sharjah Police has not issued any fine currently, but we suspect that in the coming weeks, a timeline and the fines related to the timeline for switching the old number plates will be announced as well.
