The first-ever fully electric Range Rover has been revealed in the global market. The British brand has also commenced pre-bookings for the Range Rover Electric, which is its first-ever electric vehicle.

Range Rover Electric: Battery specs, range, performance

The new Range Rover Electric is based on the brand’s Flexible Modular Longitudinal Architecture (MLA-Flex), which is essentially an 800V architecture. This platform allows for a 118.5 kWh lithium-ion battery, which is paired with a dual electric motor setup, with one motor present on each axle.

The combined power and torque output of this setup is 550 bhp and 850 Nm. Despite its hefty size, it can sprint 0-100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds. Moreover, charging the Range Rover Electric from 10 to 80 per cent takes just 22 minutes, as it can support up to 350kW of DC charging. Additionally, it can be juiced with 220 km of range in just 10 minutes of charging. Meanwhile, it can deliver up to 600 km of WLTP-claimed range, while the brand says that the real-world range stands at 535 km.

Range Rover has tested this EV more than 1.5 million kilometres in extreme conditions, from the Middle East to the Swiss Alps, with lab testing temperatures ranging from 90 degrees Celsius to -40 degrees Celsius.

With an electric setup, the new Range Rover Electric has not given up on any of its off-road capabilities. The brand claims that it can climb slopes of up to 45 degrees with a single-pedal drive mode. Moreover, it also features the brand’s latest Intelligent Driveline Dynamics system, which distributes torque to all wheels depending on the terrain to prevent loss of traction.

The air suspension has been fitted as standard equipment, while its water-wading capacity stands at 900 mm.

Conventional exterior design

The surprising bit about the new Range Rover Electric is that the brand has kept it as close as possible to the ICE version in terms of styling. The electric SUV features an almost identical design to its ICE sibling.

The fascia gets a honeycomb-type grille, LED headlights with booster and auto-levelling technology, and a streamlined bumper with black highlights. On the side, it features aerodynamic alloy wheels with low rolling resistance tyres, flush door handles, and chiselled body panels.

The rear design is also identical to the ICE version, as it features a roof-integrated spoiler that hides the wiper and washer, sleek vertical LED taillights, and a streamlined bumper without exhaust tips.

The brand wanted to keep it so close to the conventional ICE model that it did not even stick an ‘Electric’ badge anywhere on its body. Only the lack of exhaust and alloy wheels are the differentiating factors here.

Luxurious interior and features

The Range Rover Electric maintains its luxury factor on the inside. It gets the same interior design as the ICE model, featuring a four-spoke steering wheel, a 13.7-inch digital driver cockpit, a 13.1-inch infotainment screen, and Ivory White leather upholstery with open-pore wooden trim and silver highlights.

Depending on the trim, the Range Rover EV gets a panoramic sunroof, active noise cancellation, headrest-mounted speakers, heated and cooled seats, an optional rear seat entertainment package, a high-power Meridian sound system with subwoofers, massaging seats, cabin LED ambient lights, voice-assisted commands, AI-assisted infotainment features, and more.

Advanced safety features

The new Range Rover Electric packs advanced battery protection with high-strength aluminium protection, proactive digital diagnosis, and a rapid-response traction control system. In addition to these, it also gets software over-the-air updates.

In terms of autonomous safety features, the electric SUV is equipped with lane keep and lane change assist, blind spot detection, a 540-degree surround view with underbody digital view, adaptive cruise control, high-beam assist, traffic sign recognition, passive pedestrian safety features, and more.

Range Rover Electric: UAE launch and price expectations

The electric Range Rover is expected to arrive in the Middle East by late 2026 or early 2027. It is expected to be priced around AED 1.5 million.
