What has changed on the 2026 Kia Stonic?

The Kia Stonic was first introduced in 2017 in the global market. While it got listed in the UAE in 2018, it did not make it to the launch locally.

Now, the brand has revamped the Stonic brand internationally. A new, completely revised version of the compact crossover has been launched in South Korea.

It features an all-new design that is inspired by the ‘Opposites United’ philosophy of the brand. Hence, it gets the long vertical LED DRLs at the front, chiselled body panels, dual-tone alloys (16/17-inch options), and a new LED light setup with a new bumper at the rear.

Overall, it has been completely refreshed. However, its dimensions are nearly identical to the old model, measuring 4,165 mm in length and 1,760 mm in width.

New interiors and features

The cabin of the new Stonic model is now matched with the latest Kia cars, like the EV9. 

It gets a nice dual-tone leather upholstery, a new two-spoke steering wheel, a new dashboard design with a connected curved screen display, new seats for more comfort, and a 352-litre cargo area.

Engine specifications

Kia has equipped the 2026 Stonic with two engine options. The first is a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine. It makes 99 bhp and 172.19 Nm of power and torque.

The second choice is the same 1.0-litre turbo engine, but with a mild-hybrid technology to assist fuel efficiency and performance. It makes 113 bhp and 172.19 Nm of power and torque.

Both engine options are available with a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DCT automatic transmission.

UAE launch and price

The Stonic is positioned below the Kia Seltos internationally. It offers more space than the Kia Sonet, but fewer features than the Seltos. 

However, the launch of the Kia Stonic in the UAE is unpredictable as of now. Although Kia is working on a new-generation Seltos, which is expected to arrive in the UAE next year.

The new Stonic crossover is equipped with heavy design updates and new features. It’s engine options offer a mix of good highway fuel economy and decent power for city driving.
