JLR is testing the upcoming facelift of its flagship SUV, the Range Rover. A camouflaged test mule of the upcoming 2027 Range Rover was spied at Nurburgring recently, showing its new exterior design. Range Rover will substantially upgrade its interior and features, while an all-electric version will also be launched for the first time.
Â
What to expect from the upcoming 2027 Range Rover?
Â

Â
JLR has been testing the mid-life facelift of the flagship Range Rover SUV for a while now. As the updated model gets closer to its international debut, which is suspected to take place by the end of this year, the brand recently took it to the world-famous “Green Hell”, aka the Nurburgring circuit.
Â
The prototype model was spotted around the Nurburgring doing fast laps while squatting its rear and lifting its front. The heavy luxury SUV is being tested for its driving dynamics and the new technical updates that the brand has made to it.
Â

Â
While the Range Rover SUVs are made for utmost luxury and moving the owners from five-star hotels to the red carpets, the 2027 model will focus on a substantial upgrade; that is, a new interior layout and more features.
Â
While the test car has camouflaged panels, its exterior design looks only mildly updated. The front fascia seems to have received a set of new LED headlights, a reworked front bumper, and a new grille. On the other hand, the rear design looks identical to the current version, and it continues with its minimal and premium outlook.
Â

Â
However, reports suggest that the interior design of the updated Range Rover will get a fresh curved connected display running across the dashboard. Moreover, the whole cabin will undergo a substantial upgrade, including the new theme, more relaxing and luxury-oriented features, and new cabin materials to justify the VIP tag of the SUV.
Â
It is also suspected that the Range Rover will reintroduce the physical buttons on the updated model. This could be done to preserve the “feel” of the SUV, and also to keep it compatible with the Chinese automotive norms, a geography where the Range Rover witnesses a strong demand.

Same engines, more efficiency
Â
While we await the engine specification details of the 2027 Range Rover, we believe that it will continue to offer its current engine options as it is. These include the 3.0-litre petrol-hybrid engine and the BMW-sourced 4.4-litre V8 turbo engine that makes up to 670 bhp.
Â
We expect the new Range Rover to offer improved efficiency, while the performance will remain more or less the same.
Â
Electric Range Rover incoming
Â
With the launch of the 2027 Range Rover, the brand will also introduce its first-ever all-electric BEV version. The electric Range Rover will be based on an all-new 800V architecture, and the pre-bookings for it have already commenced in the global market.
Â
Last year, Range Rover tested the electric version in the Middle East as per the GCC specifications. It will offer an 118 kWh NMC battery pack, which will send the power to all four wheels via the dual-electric motors.
Â
The electric Range Rover will offer 550 PS of power and 850 Nm of torque. It will also remain a true off-roader as it will offer a water-wading capacity of up to 850 mm.
Â
It is expected to be launched later this year, and it could be priced north of AED 1.5 million in the UAE.

Â
The new 2027 Range Rover is nearing its launch timeline. The updated model will be a mid-life facelift, and it will focus on the improved cabin experience and efficient engine performance. However, it will also get an electric version, which we suspect will be a game-changer for the SUV’s future.
