Everything you need to know about the 2026 MG Rakan 4x4

The newly introduced MG Rakan 4x4 is essentially a re-engineered Gloster SUV. It is a ladder-frame SUV that offers three-row seating inside. Packed with all bells and whistles, the new Rakan 4x4 is now available in Kuwait, and it is expected to be launched in the UAE soon.

The new Rakan 4x4 features a butch styling as it uses the same body as the Gloster SUV. However, its front fascia gets the sleek LED DRLs and the new front grille with piano black horizontal slats. Accentuating its macho outlook further are the vertical LED headlights and the strong bonnet creases.

The side profile of the Rakan 4x4 features rugged body cladding and 20-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. It also comes loaded with the functional roof rails. The rear design features a connected LED taillight with Rakan badging on the tailgate and dual exhaust tips on the rear bumper.

MG Rakan 4x4 interior and features

The cabin design of the Rakan 4x4 takes comfort and luxury to a new level. The interior theme is made of triple leather upholstery, which uses an Ivory White, Maroon, and Black colour combination. The interior design is plush and offers a 7-seater layout.

The dashboard gets a twin-layer design with a three-spoke steering wheel and a practical centre console with twin rotary knobs for drive mode selection and 4x4 modes. The Rakan 4x4 offers 343 litres of cargo space with all seats up, while it can be extended to 1,350 litres by folding the third-row seats.

Powering the Rakan 4x4 is the 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine. It generates 215 bhp and 500 Nm of power and torque. This powertrain is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and gets a standard 4WD drivetrain.

Talking about the specifications, it offers 246 mm of ground clearance, 800 kg payload, 550 mm of water wading capacity and weighs 2.2 tonnes.

Its primary rival in the Middle East market is the Toyota Fortuner, which is known for its rock-solid reliability and powerful off-road performance.
