Exterior design and platform

The new C-Class electric has broken cover internationally. The electric version of the C-Class boasts an all-new electric 800V architecture, which is similar to the GLC EV, its crossover counterpart.
In terms of exterior design, the electric C-Class is substantially different from the ICE model. It boasts a retro-inspired design, with a new closed grille that has optional 1,050 LEDs, resonating with the iconic models like the W111.

Mercedes-Benz has stuck with the EQ design philosophy showcased on the concept version. It features a sleek and fluidic design with a sloping roofline and a unique rear design with dual-oval LED taillights embedded in a black connecting element.
While the LED Digital Lights and the taillights feature the tri-star logo, the aerodynamic alloy wheels and the retractable door handles provide it a smoother profile. It also gets a glass roof with optional 162 illuminated star logos.

In terms of size, the electric C-Class is 97 mm longer than the ICE counterpart in wheelbase comparison. The distance between axles is 2,962 mm, which offers more space for the front and rear passenger legroom.
Massive screen and plush interior

Moving on the inside, the C-Class EV gets the first-ever 39.1-inch full-width Superscreen. It runs through the width of the dashboard, and unlike the triple “Hyperscreen”, it boasts a continuous layout.
While the big screen is optional, it replaces almost every physical control button on the centre console. Meanwhile, customers get the standard Super screen with dual 14-inch infotainment screens and a 10.3-inch digital driver screen.

The rest of the cabin features a plush design with leather upholstery, which can be had with the sustainable material. There are plenty of brushed aluminium elements used on the door pads, centre console, and dashboard.
It offers every luxury feature of the gas-powered C-Class, and then some more. Mercedes has also equipped it with a long array of safety features, including autonomous aids like pedestrian radar, high-beam assist, road sign recognition, and more.
Battery specs, range, performance

The C-Class EV shares its underpinnings with the GLC EV. The introductory variant is called C400 4MATIC, and it uses a 94.5 kWh battery pack, dual-electric motors, producing 484 bhp and 800 Nm.
The WLTP-claimed range of the C-Class electric is 762 km, and it can be charged with a 330 kW DC charger, which adds 325 km of range in just 10 minutes.
The C-Class EV can sprint 0-96 km/h in 3.9 seconds, and it gets an electronically-limited range of 209 km/h. A rear-wheel drive version will debut late next year, and it will offer more range.
Mercedes has equipped the electric C-Class with the rear steering wheel feature, which turns the rear wheels in the opposite direction of the front wheels up to 70 km/h, and in the same direction post 70 km/h.
Moreover, it comes with an optional air suspension system, which Mercedes claims offers a luxurious ride quality as smooth as the S-Class.
When will it launch in the UAE?
Mercedes-Benz will introduce the electric C-Class in the US and European markets initially. It will also be launched in China, and thereafter it will follow other markets like the UAE.
We suspect that it will launch in the Middle East by mid-2027.
Cars24 UAE says
Mercedes is struggling to sell its electric cars globally due to lower demand and software-based, highly efficient EV competition from China. However, the C-Class EV promises more with its efficient drivetrain and luxurious ride quality - something that could change the fate of Mercedes EV sales globally.
