What is new on the 2027 Mercedes-Benz EQS?
Battery, range, and specification updates

Revealed for the global market, the new EQS now features an 800V architecture, replacing the older 400V architecture. This has allowed Mercedes to equip it with improved battery cell chemistry, thus expanding the battery size to 122 kWh.
With the improved battery size and charging architecture, the new EQS 450+ variant now delivers up to 926 km (WLTP-claimed) range. The new EQS sedan is available in various variants, including the 4MATIC+ and AMG spec, whose maximum power output ranges between 367 bhp and 585 bhp.
The new EQS supports DC charging up to 350 kW, which can add a range of 320 km in just 10 minutes. The company claims that 10-80% takes only 27 minutes of charging time.
Moreover, the new EQS comes with bi-directional charging, including vehicle-to-load and vehicle-to-grid options, depending on the market. The rear axle now gets a new two-speed transmission for improved high-speed efficiency and performance.
The air suspension system has also been updated with cloud-based inputs. It can pre-read the conditions of the road ahead, as reported by other Mercedes models on the cloud, further adjusting the dampers and suspension to provide the utmost comfort.
Exterior changes

On the outside, the new EQS continues to boast its arrow-like roofline design with a sloping bonnet. However, the front now gets a new, sleeker LED Digital Lights, a new chrome surround grille with digital star illumination, and a new bumper with improved aerodynamic efficiency.
The side profile gets the new monoblock alloy wheels with low rolling resistance tyres. Meanwhile, the rear is now equipped with the new bumper and updated LED light pattern.
Interior feature updates

On the inside, the biggest update is the new steer-by-wire technology. This technology replaces the conventional steering system with an electronic unit control system.
Steer-by-wire has been derived from F1, where the steering wheel sends input to the control units via wires, which further move the wheels as per the input. The benefit of this system is more control with fewer steering corrections.
Additionally, Mercedes is offering an optional Yoke-like steering wheel for an exclusive driving feel. However, the car will come equipped with the conventional steering wheel by default from the factory.
Other changes include the new MB.OS software that supports OTA updates and an AI-assistant that uses Bing and Google to execute voice commands in a conversational tone. The rear passengers now get individual 13.1-inch entertainment screens.
When will the new Mercedes-Benz EQS launch?
The 2027 Mercedes-Benz EQS is slated to launch in the international market by the second half of this year. There is no official announcement regarding the UAE launch timeline. We can safely assume that it will be introduced in the Middle East next year.
