What to expect from the upcoming Honda 0 Alpha SUV?

Honda has recently announced that it is scrapping the 0 Series models internationally. The 0 Series SUV and Sedan were destined to become the first EVs of the brand in the global market, but the EVs are evolving with software-developed models, and the brand says that its EVs will not cut the benefit ratio.
However, the Japanese carmaker is still on track for the 0 Alpha SUV launch. The road testing phase of the upcoming 0 Alpha SUV has begun in India, and the brand is targeting to launch it next year internationally.
Destined to be manufactured in India completely, the 0 Alpha SUV will be positioned as a crossover SUV, which will rival the Hyundai Kona, Suzuki e Vitara, and the Hyundai Creta Electric. The official test car images showcase an interesting design language that is based on minimalism.
The exterior design of the 0 Alpha is based on the “Thin, Light, and Wise” philosophy. It features smooth body panels, a vertical front shape with connected LED lights, and a unique rear design with a vertical windscreen and a U-shaped LED taillight positioned on the top.
Other key features on the exterior include the 19-inch aerodynamic alloy wheels and the retractable door handles, which will give it a smooth outlook.
While not much is known about its interior, a recent spy shot shows that it will get a tech-focused, yet minimalist cabin design, with a hexagonal steering wheel, and a full-width screen. The 0 Alpha SUV will be a strict 5-seater electric vehicle, which will boast AI-assisted features and an airy cabin with a large greenhouse and a glass roof.
Powering the Honda 0 Alpha could be a Li-ion battery pack of around 60-70 kWh, which could offer a range of 400-500 km on a full charge. Honda will offer the 0 Alpha with a FWD option, and the chances of an AWD are unlikely.
Will it launch in the UAE?
Honda has not disclosed the country-wise launch plan of the 0 Alpha SUV. However, the brand did confirm that it will offer it internationally after manufacturing it in India.
With that said, the growing EV infrastructure and new EV brands in the Middle East, we suspect that Honda can possibly launch the 0 Alpha SUV in the UAE by 2027-end.
Cars24 UAE says
Honda’s entry in the EV space is a little too late. While the Japanese carmaker is trying its best to make an impact with clean design and big electric 0 Alpha SUV, the Chinese rivals like BYD, Jetour, Chery, etc, are already way too ahead in terms of products.
