BYD has unveiled its latest flagship 7-seater electric SUV called the Great Tang. Loaded with futuristic features and top-notch battery performance, it is expected to launch in the UAE later this year. Check out its complete details below.

Design and dimensions of the BYD Great Tang
The all-new Great Tang SUV is based on BYD’s latest Super e-platform that has been tailored specifically for the EV. It supports up to 1,000V, which enables a seamless performance and jaw-dropping quick charging time.
Speaking of the design, it features a Mercedes GLS-like design with triple colour body paint and sleek elements like the connected LED lightbar, chiselled body panels, monoblock 21-inch wheels, sculpted front bumper with aero dams, and a top-mounted LiDAR safety module.
In terms of dimensions, the Great Tang measures 5,302 mm in length, 1,999 mm in width, and 1800 mm in height. Moreover, its 3,130 mm of wheelbase ensures that the 7-seater cabin offers optimum comfort to all the passengers.
Interior features of the BYD Great Tang
Since the Great Tang will compete with world-class rivals like the Nissan Patrol and the Toyota Land Cruiser 300, it features a wide and spacious cabin with a 2+2+3 seating layout. It is a 7-seater SUV that features a full leather upholstery cabin with soft-touch materials and high-grade elements like the brushed aluminium and wooden highlights.
The dashboard features three screens: one for the instrument console, a central touchscreen for infotainment, and a passenger screen for entertainment. Moreover, the rear passengers get a roof-mounted pop-up-type central infotainment screen that acts like a TV, featuring OTA updates and all entertainment apps.
Other key highlights include the various cabin themes with leather upholstery, captain seats for the second row passengers with recline, ventilation, heating, and massaging options. Even the third row seats feature ventilation and recline options via button controls.
Wireless features include fast charging pads with cooling functionality, AI-assisted voice commands, and OTA updates for the infotainment. In terms of safety, it features LiDAR and ADAS-based functions, that include pedestrian collision avoidance, auto-emergency braking, lane keep assist, a 540-degree surround view, driving and traction modes, under-bonnet view, and more.
Battery specs and range
Powering the Great Tang SUV are RWD and AWD options. The RWD battery pack offers 496 bhp of peak power, while the AWD variant will offer 784 bhp of peak power. The latter is also claimed to offer a driving range of 950 km on full charge (CLTC approved).
In terms of charging, the Great Tang supports up to 1,000 kW DC charging, which can add 200 km of range in just 5 minutes. In terms of performance, the Great Tang offers an electronically-limited top speed of 250 km/h.
BYD engineers have also added the Di-Sus P intelligent anti-body roll system that controls the vehicle in real-time by adjusting the dampers and the air suspension system, which gives it a planted ride quality with great confidence.
When will it launch in the UAE?
BYD has scheduled to launch the Great Tang in China initially. It is expected to enter the Middle Eastern market later this year.
The Great Tang will also be offered with a plug-in hybrid engine in the future, which will compete with the Toyota Land Cruiser 300 Hybrid and the new Nissan Patrol SUV.
