Jaguar has officially unveiled the Type 01 in New York, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the British luxury carmaker. The four-door electric GT is the first production Jaguar based on the brand’s dedicated Jaguar Electric Architecture (JEA) and is positioned as a significant step upmarket.
With its long bonnet, low roofline, 23-inch wheels and distinctive proportions, the Type 01 is a major departure from Jaguar’s previous production models. Jaguar says the new EV has been designed, engineered and built in the UK.
Orders are scheduled to open in early 2027, with customer deliveries expected to begin in the second half of the year.
Jaguar Type 01 performance and battery

The Jaguar Type 01 uses a three-motor electric powertrain producing up to 1,016hp and 1,365Nm of torque. Jaguar quotes a 0-100km/h time of 3.2 seconds, while the EV can accelerate from 100km/h to 180km/h in 4.0 seconds.
Power comes from a 118kWh usable battery paired with an 850-volt electrical architecture. Jaguar expects the Type 01 to deliver up to 644km of EPA-rated range. It supports 350kW DC rapid charging, with Jaguar claiming up to 322km of range can be added in 13 minutes.

Bold design sets the Type 01 apart

The Type 01 carries over much of the dramatic design language previewed by the Type 00 concept. Its exterior features a long bonnet, short front overhang, low roofline, extended rear section and large 23-inch wheels.
Jaguar has also focused heavily on aerodynamics, with active vanes and a three-stage deployable rear spoiler helping the Type 01 achieve a claimed drag coefficient of 0.23. The EV does away with a conventional rear window, instead using a camera-based rear-view system.
The design also incorporates flush door handles, slim LED lighting and a distinctive front end without a traditional grille. Jaguar says more than 360 patent applications were made during the development of the Type 01.
Futuristic four-seat interior

Inside, the Type 01 takes a minimalist approach with a four-seat layout divided by a central spine. The dashboard features a large 24-inch OLED display, while a smaller seven-inch touchscreen handles key functions such as climate and audio controls.
The two-spoke steering wheel gets integrated touch controls, while the EV uses a digital rear-view display instead of a conventional mirror. Jaguar has also equipped the Type 01 with an immersive sound system featuring a full-width panoramic soundbar.
Jaguar Type 01 price and availability
Jaguar is yet to announce UAE pricing or confirm local availability for the Type 01. In the UK, the electric GT is expected to start at around £130,000. Jaguar will open order books in early 2027, with the first customer deliveries expected in the second half of the year.
The Type 01 is a crucial model for Jaguar as the brand moves towards an all-electric luxury line-up. With more than 1,000hp, a claimed 644km range and a design unlike anything previously seen from the marque, the new GT is clearly aimed at buyers seeking an alternative to established luxury EVs.
