Peugeot has revealed the updated 408 for the GCC market, bringing refreshed fastback styling, upgraded cabin technology and a 215 hp turbocharged petrol engine. Available in Allure and GT trims, the new model combines the silhouette of a sporty saloon with the raised stance and practicality associated with crossovers.
The regional launch also introduces distinctive lighting updates, an illuminated Peugeot badge and additional comfort features, with a Saudi Arabian launch planned for later in 2026.
2026 Peugeot 408: Exterior design and styling

The updated Peugeot 408 retains its distinctive fastback profile, blending a sloping roofline with crossover-inspired proportions. The redesigned front grille and bumper feature additional three-dimensional detailing and a mix of gloss and matte black finishes.
Peugeot's signature three-claw LED lighting has been revised with slanted light strips that also serve as sequential indicators. The GT variant adds an illuminated Peugeot shield at the front, positioned above a full-width LED light strip. At the rear, illuminated Peugeot lettering is integrated into a full-width clear-lens strip with gloss-black detailing.

The new Flare Green paint option changes appearance depending on the lighting, shifting from a bright yellow-green in direct sunlight to a deeper shade in the shadows. Other exterior colours include Perla Nera Black, Selenium Grey, Okenite White and Elixir Red.
The Allure comes with 18-inch Detroit diamond-cut alloy wheels, while the GT receives larger 20-inch Monolith alloy wheels.
2026 Peugeot 408: Engine specs and performance
The GCC-specification Peugeot 408 uses a 1.6-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol engine producing 215 hp and 300 Nm of torque. An 8-speed automatic transmission sends power to the wheels and includes a Sport driving mode and steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters.
Peugeot quotes a 0–100 km/h acceleration time of 8.8 seconds and a top speed of 220 km/h. The manufacturer also claims combined fuel economy of 15.7 km/l, equivalent to approximately 6.4 litres per 100 km. The car has received an Excellent fuel-efficiency rating under GCC Standardisation Organisation certification.
Despite its crossover-inspired stance, the 408 stands just 1.48 metres tall. It also has an 11-metre kerb-to-kerb turning circle, which is designed to make manoeuvring in urban spaces easier. A compact steering wheel is part of Peugeot's driver-focused setup, while the GT adds a heated steering wheel.

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are available across both trims. The GT adds integrated navigation, voice recognition and wireless smartphone charging. Buyers can also opt for a 10-inch 3D Quartz instrument cluster on the GT.
Another feature is Peugeot's configurable i-Toggles system, which provides touchscreen shortcuts for frequently used functions, including climate settings, navigation destinations, contacts and radio stations. Eight selectable ambient lighting colours extend across the dashboard and door panels, adding another layer of personalisation.
