BMW has unveiled the fifth-generation X5 SUV internationally. The 2027 BMW X5 will hit the global market in October 2026, and it will subsequently be launched in the UAE.

What is new on the 2027 BMW X5?

Neue Klasse exterior design

The all-new X5 is based on BMW’s Neue Klasse platform. The exterior styling of the new X5 is a big step forward compared to the outgoing model. While the silhouette of the new X5 looks familiar to the previous version, almost everything is new on it.

Talking about the exterior design, the front is elevated with an upright stance and the new dual-X-shaped daytime running LED lights. The kidney grille is now smaller, but it is joined by a black highlight between the lights. The bumper, on the other hand, gets aggressive cuts and a big lower grille for aerodynamic stability.

The side profile will remind you of the outgoing X5 model. But the greenhouse is new, and so are the chiselled body panels with new flush door handles. The alloy wheels are also new, and they range from 21 to 23 inches depending on the variant.

The rear is completely different from the outgoing car. It gets a raked windshield with a big roof-mounted spoiler, a set of new connected LED taillights, and a big sporty bumper with black highlights.

In terms of measurements, the new X5 stands as follows:

  • Length - 4,994 mm
  • Height - 1,751 mm
  • Width - 2,000 mm
  • Wheelbase - 3,035 mm
  • Boot space - 655 litres (expandable up to 1,850 litres)

Interior design and features

The interior design of the new-gen X5 has also evolved as per the Neue Klasse design philosophy. It gets the trademark BMW Panoramic iDrive screen that runs along the top of the dashboard - displaying all the necessary data about the car.

The new dashboard features a big diagonal 17.9-inch infotainment screen with BMW Operating X software. The optional passenger screen offers entertainment and cabin comfort adjustment features. It also features the new four-spoke steering wheel, which made its debut on the new-generation BMW iX3.

The cabin design offers a five-seater layout with leather upholstery and soft-touch materials. The interior also features slate and glass materials for a premium finish. To make the cabin more airy, the new X5 features a full-size panoramic sunroof as standard.

One of the biggest updates on the new X5 is its wide range of powertrains. For the first time, BMW is offering five powertrains on the X5. These are segmented as follows:

When will the new 2027 BMW X5 launch?

The fifth-generation X5 will go on sale in October 2026 in the global market. It will be available in petrol and diesel initially; the plug-in hybrid and the electric versions will follow in 2027. We anticipate that the new X5 will be introduced in the UAE by next year.
