Hyundai has revealed the eighth-generation Elantra at the 2026 Busan International Mobility Show. The 2027 Hyundai Elantra features an entirely new exterior and interior design and a revamped list of features, along with the updated hybrid powertrain.

The first immediately noticeable change on the eighth-generation Elantra is a completely new exterior design. It has not only grown bigger in size, but also packs the new ‘Art of Steel’ design philosophy.

The new Elantra is 55 mm longer and 30 mm wider than the previous version. It also boasts 30 mm more wheelbase than the previous version, thus offering more interior space.

The overall exterior design of the new Elantra is sharp and modern, and it looks like a car from the future. The sharp design elements like the vertical daytime running lights on the front, wide rear haunches, sharp dual-tone 18-inch alloys, and a sporty roofline all make it stand out from the crowd.

The rear profile gets the T-shaped LED taillights and a boot-integrated spoiler.

Hyundai has not only updated the design, but it has also evolved the new-generation Elantra in every way possible. The cabin, which happens to be the most important part of a sedan, is now evolved with a new layout, new seats, and a new dashboard that boasts plenty of new features.

The immediately noticeable changes include the new three-spoke steering wheel with the dotted Hyundai logo, a new 14.6-inch Pleos infotainment screen, a slim digital driver console, a head-up display, and a redesigned centre console. The engineers have retained physical buttons for the AC, ADAS, and multimedia controls on the steering wheel and the central dashboard.

The equipment list has also been revamped with new features like the Bang & Olufsen sound system, electronic parking brake with auto-hold feature, 100W USB charging ports, wireless charging pad with cooling, electrically adjustable front seats with ventilation, a dual-zone climate control, a 360-degree camera, new custom LED ambient lights, etc.

Improved safety features

A major step-up on the new-gen Elantra is in the safety department. It not only gets the Level 2 ADAS safey features, but also packs the navigation-based “Smart Cruise Control 2”.

The new Smart Cruise Control 2 automatically decelerates the car in specific sections like speed limit areas, schools, speed breakers, and more. It also gets the new “Pedal Misuse Safety Assist”, which avoids accidental acceleration.

Hyundai has kept the engine options unaltered on the new-gen Elantra. It will be offered with the 2.0-litre four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine (149 bhp), paired to a CVT automatic gearbox, and the 1.6-litre hybrid engine.

The 1.6-litre hybrid engine now makes 157 bhp, which is 16 bhp more than the previous model. To achieve the bump in power, Hyundai has improved the battery capacity, transmission, and drive motor.

Additionally, the new Elantra features the new smart regenerative braking system. This system automatically detects the road conditions and traffic, further adjusting the regen braking power to offer one-pedal control.

Meanwhile, its new ‘Hybrid Hierarchical Predictive Control System’ can read your daily routes and adjust the powertrain and regenerative braking to optimise fuel efficiency. There is also a new ‘Stay Mode’, which can power the AC and other controls for some time without requiring the engine to start.

When will the new 2027 Hyundai Elantra launch?

The updated new-generation Elantra is expected to go on sale in South Korea later this year. We expect it to arrive in the UAE by next year. The current Hyundai Elantra is priced from AED 76,250. We anticipate that the new model will be priced higher than the current model.

Meanwhile, if you are searching for a used Hyundai Elantra car, look no further than Cars24 UAE for the best quality.
