2027 Volkswagen Teramont: Everything you need to know
New design and platform
The all-new 2027 Teramont, known as Atlas in certain markets, has been unveiled in the US. It is now based on the new MQB.Evo platform, and it has grown 1 inch longer in size, thus offering more interior space.
The new front fascia features the double-stacked Matrix LED lights with the connected DRLs and an illuminated VW logo. The front bumper has also been redesigned with improved air flow.
On the side, it now features the new alloy wheels, ranging from 18-inch to 22-inch, depending on the variant. Other additions include the projector puddle lamps and illuminated door handles.
Volkswagen has also added three new exterior colours: Blackberry, Sandstone, and Sacramento Green.
Interior and feature updates
The cabin design of the new 2027 Teramont has undergone a massive overhaul. It now features the new ‘bold loop’ design philosophy, which embeds a new dashboard, a sleek 10.25-inch digital driver console, and new door panels with redesigned seats.
The interior now features the real wood decor across the lineup, while the base variant is now equipped with leather upholstery. The range-topping variants get the Nappa leather.
Other key improvements include the new 12-way power-adjustable driver seat with ventilation, memory, and massage functionality. The B-pillars now get additional air-conditioning vents for improved air flow for the second-row passengers.
The centre console area has also been redesigned with more storage space and a wireless charging pad, as the gearshift lever has been moved to the steering column.
The new Teramont SUV also gets a 15-inch floating infotainment screen, and wireless features like Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Type-C fast charging ports, rear sunblinds, an electric tailgate, and more.
To enhance the cabin comfort, it is also loaded with a 14-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, a ‘Driver Experience Dial’ on the centre console to control the infotainment features, and autonomous safety features like Travel Assist, Emergency Assist, and more.
Engine specs
Powering the 2027 Volkswagen Teramont is the new 2.0-litre, EA888 Evo 2.5, inline-four, turbo petrol engine. This improved unit adds 13bhp, thus taking the total output to 282bhp and 350Nm.
Volkswagen offers the Teramont with the 4Motion all-wheel drive as standard system, and it is paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission. It offers 2,268 kg towing capacity as well.
The company has also revealed that it is planning to launch the hybrid variants of the Teramont in the coming months.
When will it launch?
The new 2027 Teramont is scheduled to arrive in the US by late 2026. It is expected to be launched in the Middle East early next year.
