Just when we thought that Audi had run out of ideas, the brand has come out of the depths of boring designs and dead innovations. While Audi keeps on introducing new production models, the brand has been silently working on a new limited edition supercar, called Novulari. Limited to only 499 units, the Audi Novulari will be launched next year. Check out its complete details below.

What is the Audi Nuvolari Hybrid sports car?

Audi Nuvolari

Unveiled recently, the upcoming Nuvolari hybrid sports car is a successor to the iconic R8. While the R8 was a production sports car, the Nuvolari will be limited to only 499 units globally as it goes into production in 2027.

Revealing its exterior, interior, and engine specifications yesterday, Audi also disclosed that the Nuvolari will debut the brand’s latest platform, which is expected to house a couple of future models. On the other hand, it features a monocoque frame, called ‘Audi Space Frame’, which has been designed to offer an eye-watering performance to the driver and the passenger.

What powers the Audi Nuvolari?

Important things first. The Nuvolari is a hybrid sports car. It is based on a 4.0-litre V8 twin-turbo engine that is mid-mounted. Hence, the Nuvolari can easily accommodate the Audi Quattro all-wheel drive system and a battery pack.

Audi engineers have paired this engine with a 7.3 kWh lithium ion battery, which offers a combined output of 987 bhp. Mind you, the Nuvolari is more powerful than the Lamborghini Temerario, and it is shy of just 15 bhp from the Lamborghini Revuelto.

To achieve this power, Audi has used three axial-flux electric motors. Meanwhile, the car also features active aerodynamics, including the front bumper splitter and a moving spoiler that is neatly integrated into the tail.

Things get really scary when we tell you its performance numbers. 0-100 km/h comes in just 2.6 seconds, 0-200 km/h in just 4.2 seconds, and the top speed is 350 km/h. Additionally, the Quattro all-wheel drive system has been tuned to read the driving conditions and act accordingly. It can deal with sudden loss of grip and power in tricky situations.

To stop the Nuvolari, Audi has installed the massive 420 mm front and 410 mm rear carbon ceramic disc brakes with a dedicated cooling system. It can also adjust the torque as per the driving requirements and brake in targeted interventions.

Audi says it comes with four driving modes that can be switched from a rotary knob on the steering wheel. These modes include E-Hybrid, which is a pure electric mode; Balanced mode, which enables lower engine power and comfortable suspension settings; Dynamic mode, which offers sharp engine response and enhances agility; and the Dynamic+ mode, which offers a breathtaking performance.

But, if you are not satisfied yet, there is a Track mode. This mode not only unleashes all 987 horses of the engine, but also features automatic torque adjustment and steering adjustment in real-time driving on the track by learning your responses. Mind-blowing, indeed.

How do the Audi Nuvolari look like?

Since it is the flagship Audi sports car, the Nuvolari features a unique design. The front fascia boasts a vertical grille, slender LED headlights, and a sharp bumper with aero dams for better airflow.

The side profile gives a faint look of the iconic R8’s side blade design, which is a welcome bit, as many buyers will be attracted due to this profile itself. The rear packs a sloping design with slender LED taillights and active dynamics.

On the inside, it features a rather simplistic outlook. Thanks to the Alcantara leather upholstery on the dashboard, the cabin of the Nuvolari feels like an F1 car.

It gets a three-spoke steering wheel with machined paddle shifters, brushed aluminium door handles, a flush-type digital driver console, a portrait-type floating infotainment screen, and a big divider between the front seats.

When will the Audi Nuvolari launch?

Audi has announced that the Nuvolari will hit the production line next year. The pre-bookings for the limited 499 units are expected to commence in the coming months, and so will be its price and other key details.

Cars24 UAE says

The new Audi Nuvolari sports car looks absolutely stunning in the first set of photos. Moreover, its engine performance is promising enough to make hyper car buyers pull toward it. We hope that a handful of units of this limited-edition sports car will make it to the Middle East.
