What is the BYD Ti 7 PHEV?
The newly launched BYD Ti 7 is an urban SUV that offers a rugged look and a spacious cabin for practical family use. It is based on the DM-p plug-in hybrid technology, which is a trademark of BYD, and it offers long-range capabilities.
The Ti 7 has been designed to compete with European rivals like the Land Rover Defender. It has a huge size and road presence, which is often demanded by customers in this segment.
Exterior design and dimensions
The Ti 7 is a big, boxy, conventional-looking SUV, whose exterior design is accentuated by the dual-layered LED daytime running lights, big mirrors, flared wheel arches, a tailgate-mounted spare tyre, and vertical LED taillights with clear-lens design.
Overall, it measures 5,146 mm in length, 1,995 mm in width, and 1,865 mm in height. The Ti 7 rides on the big 19-inch alloy wheels finished in black outlook. Other details include the piano black trim parts, brushed aluminium elements, functional roof rails, and retractable door handles.
Interior design and features
On the inside, the BYD Ti 7 features a spacious and comfortable cabin with a commanding driving position. The leather upholstery is present everywhere in the cabin, while the massive 15.6-inch rotating screen enables a whole new world of wireless entertainment.
This screen supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, but it also enables users to play video games while you are charging the car. Additionally, it gets up to 45 litres of storage space, while the cargo area can be expanded up to 1,880 litres.
The 12.3-inch digital driver screen is supported by a massive 26-inch augmented reality head-up display, which offers 3D navigation options and more. Customers can choose the rear seat entertainment package, which offers individual 13-inch rear screens.
Other features include electric front seats with memory function, ventilation and heating options, wireless charging pads with cooling, a 4.5-litre in-console refrigerator, massaging seats, electric rear headrests, and more. The Ti 7 is available in five and seven-seater layouts.
What powers the BYD Ti 7 in the Middle East?
BYD has introduced a slightly different powertrain on the Ti 7 for the Middle Eastern market. It comes with a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine, which is paired with the DM-p plug-in hybrid motor.
While the Ti 7 is not a proper 4WD, it offers strong performance with its 480 bhp and 630 Nm of power and torque, and gets an all-wheel drive. It offers a claimed range of up to 870 km. Meanwhile, if you run it on pure electric power, it can do up to 80 km.
What is the price of the BYD Ti 7 in the Middle East?
The new BYD Ti 7 is available at a starting price of AED 156,900 (without VAT) in the UAE. Customers can also choose the finance option and buy it for as low as AED 2,458/month.
