What to expect from the next-gen Mitsubishi Pajero?

The latest announcement made by Mitsubishi is eye-watering for Pajero enthusiasts globally. The Japanese carmaker is set to make a comeback of its Pajero moniker in the global market.
While we have reported earlier about this, Mitsubishi has now confirmed that the next-gen Pajero will return by the autumn season this year. The test mule of the new-generation Pajero has been roaming in the international market, and we know quite a bit about it already.
First, it will be based on an all-new platform. The next-gen Pajero will also grow bigger in size, and it will focus on luxury and durability along with an eco-friendly powertrain. Moreover, Mitsubishi will expand the Pajero nameplate this time as a separate brand.
Moreover, the first teaser image shared by the company shows a big connected LED light setup, which ends with vertical drops on both ends. This also hints at the fact that the new-gen Pajero will get the modern bits that we see on the latest cars, while retaining its boxy styling.
This means we can expect multiple body styles based on it. Which means that a pickup truck based on the new-gen Pajero will also launch as per our expectations. Meanwhile, the new Pajero SUV will offer the latest technology, safety, and comfort features.

Additionally, it is safe to say that the new-gen Pajero will come equipped with multiple engine options, depending on the market. For example, the UAE market will most likely get the petrol engines, while the Australian market will most likely get a diesel and PHEV engine.
Some online reports also claim that the new-gen Pajero will get a BEV or a fully electric model as well. While we are not sure when it will launch, we can safely say that it will come to the global market sooner or later.
On the other hand, Mitsubishi also revealed its future plans. The brand revealed that it has scheduled 13 new models by the end of 2031 for the global market. An official presentation image showcased small SUVs, BEVs, and hatchbacks, including Kei cars.
Some of these cars will be region-specific only. For example, the Keir cars and hatchbacks will most likely be introduced in the South Asian car markets only.
The Pajero nameplate is also likely to offer a variety of body styles. Apart from the big three-row Pajero, which will be called Montero in specific markets, the Pajero nameplate will offer a five-seater mid-size SUV as well.
When will the next-gen Mitsubishi Pajero launch?
As revealed by the brand, the next-gen Pajero will be introduced in Japan later this year. The exact date for the debut is yet to be determined, but it will be revealed in the autumn season of 2026.
With that said, we anticipate that it will come to the Middle East, including the UAE car market, by mid-2027. Once launched, the new-gen Mitsubishi Pajero will fight with the Nissan Patrol Y63 and the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado.
Cars24 UAE says
The upcoming plans of Mitsubishi look highly promising, especially the return of the Pajero nameplate. Pajero is one of the most durable, rugged, and dependable vehicles in the world, and it is loved for its off-road capabilities and power in the Middle East.
