What is happening to the Volkswagen Touareg?

Volkswagen’s latest announcement regarding the discontinuation of its flagship SUV, Touareg, has created a stir worldwide among car enthusiasts. The reason is the value-for-money package of the Touareg, and the driving experience that it offered is outstanding.

But why is Volkswagen discontinuing the Touareg? While the company has not revealed the complete details about its decision to axe the Touareg, it has stated that the future plan is to make way for more affordable cars.

Touareg was positioned as the top marque in the brand’s worldwide portfolio. It was developed alongside the Porsche Cayenne in 2002. Meanwhile, in its sixth generation, the new Touareg competes with the Audi Q7, BMW X7, and the Mercedes-Benz GLS.

The Touareg will be axed next year, which will end its global production after a total of 24 years.

No replacement for the Volkswagen Touareg?
