2025 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado Hybrid: Engine specs and performance

The biggest change on the new 2025 Land Cruiser Prado Hybrid is the addition of a 48V mild-hybrid self-charging system. 

Unlike the conventional alternator-based systems, this one uses a DC-DC power converter, a 48V battery to store the energy, and a motor-generator.

This system weighs 7.6kg and is mated to the 2.8-litre, turbo-diesel engine, which produces 204 bhp of peak power and 500 Nm of peak torque. It is further mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission and a 4X4 drivetrain.

As per the company, the new mild-hybrid system helps increase fuel efficiency as it now features an idle start/stop function. 

Additionally, the mild-hybrid system provides 13 bhp and 35 Nm of power and torque when the car rolls from standstill.

The same drivetrain is also used on the new 2025 Toyota Fortuner globally. Moreover, the company claims that the mild-hybrid system helps in off-roading by increasing the tractability and low-speed response.

The Land Cruiser Prado Hybrid has a 700mm water wading capacity, and its batteries are water resistant.

2025 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado Hybrid: Design and interiors

Design-wise, the new Prado Hybrid is only slightly changed as compared to the standard model. Only the front bumper and foglight position have been changed.

The rest of the car is unchanged in terms of the exterior. Similarly, the cabin design is unchanged from its predecessor.

It features a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, electric seats with ventilation/heating, a HUD, a console cool box, wireless charging, wireless phone connectivity, and drive modes with a dedicated off-road mode.
