Suzuki Fronx ANCAP crash test result explained

The Australian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) is known for its brutal crash test procedures and hardcore vehicle assessment. The same ANCAP agency has recently tested the Suzuki Fronx, and the results are truly shocking.
Not only did the Fronx achieve only a 1-star rating in the overall crash test results, but the rear seatbelt of the car failed during the test, which has led to a recall in Australia. The car has been pulled from sales, and the safety authorities have started investigating Suzuki cars in Australia.

However, Suzuki isn’t behind in explaining what went wrong here. So, basically, 249 units of Fronx made in 2025 were fitted with a seatbelt that has a manufacturing defect. This defect led to the snapping of the seatbelt in the test car used by ANCAP. Now, Suzuki is offering a free replacement for the affected units, as the brand has already sent a notice to the owners.
Interestingly, this happens to be the lowest-ever ANCAP score in safety achieved by a small car. Moreover, the Fronx is the second Suzuki car in the last 12 months to score poor safety ratings under 2-stars.
What does it mean for the Suzuki Fronx owners in the UAE?
While the Fronx is an all-rounder vehicle in its segment, it is popular in the UAE because of its 1.5-litre engine and refined performance. However, the UAE or GCC-spec Fronx is yet to be tested for safety by any of the global agencies like the GNCAP. Therefore, it is unclear whether the UAE-specific Fronx also has safety issues or not.
However, the UAE’s strict road safety requirements mean that the Fronx sold here is loaded with six airbags, ABS with EBD, BA, and an autonomous emergency braking feature.
Cars24 UAE says
The latest crash test results of Fronx are disheartening, especially considering the segment it competes in globally. The Fronx is sold in numerous countries, including Japan, where it gets an AWD as well. We hope that Suzuki will assess its global markets for such safety negligence.
