What to expect from the 2027 Mercedes-Benz C-Class EQ?

The first spy shots of the upcoming C-Class electric version, which is likely to be called C-Class with EQ technology, have surfaced online. The new images of a completely camouflaged test car, showcase the new design language that the C-Class EV will follow.

Breaking the bow-like roofline design strategy for the electric models, the C-Class EV will retain the conventional three-box design of a luxury sedan. The test car seen has a flamboyant design language with chiselled body panels and features like flush-type door handles and low-rolling resistance tyres with aerodynamic wheels.

However, the biggest takeaway from these spy images is the new front fascia that gets an all-new front grille resembling the 1970s models like the W123. It has horizontal slats which are suspected to get illumination. Even the backlit of these slats will likely offer the illuminated grille, something we saw recently on the Mercedes-Benz GLC EQ.

Another update is the set of new LED headlights, which will embrace the new tri-LED setup formed in star shape. Along with these updates, the C-Class electric will likely offer a subtle and elegant styling.

Battery specs and range details

Mercedes has earlier revealed that the C-Class EQ will offer a claimed range of 800 km. However, its exact battery specs are unknown for now. But, what we know is that it will be based on the MB.EA platform, which will be an 800V architecture. This system will allow fast charging in just 10-15 minutes.

There will be different powertrains, including an RWD for the base variant, likely to be called C300+, while the dual-motor variants will offer a maximum power of 480 bhp. The C-Class EQ is expected to use a two-gear transmission system.

Interior details and features

On the inside, the C-Class EQ will feature a new design with a full-width 39.1-inch Hyperscreen system with the latest operating system from Mercedes. The wireless connectivity features are likely to be powered by the AI-assisted systems.

On the other hand, the cabin will feature a “Vegan Package”, which will be made from vegan and recyclable materials that are approved by ‘The Vegan Society’ with a certification.

When will it launch?

Mercedes-Benz is expected to launch the new C-Class EQ by the end of this year. It will go into production next year, and it is expected to launch in the UAE by 2027-end.
