Nissan has unveiled a new NISMO sporty version of the new Leaf EV in the global market. The 2027 Nissan Leaf NISMO is now exclusively available in Japan, and it is expected to debut in the UAE by the end of this year.
What makes the 2027 Nissan Leaf NISMO special?
Exterior styling
The biggest change that you will notice on the NISMO version is the NISMO-inspired styling on the exterior. The NISMO Leaf EV features a new front bumper with a twin-blade splitter painted in black colour and highlighted with red accents. These red accents continue on the black rear-view mirrors and on the new black side skirts.
The rear design is quite interesting as it features the single LED taillights from the base variant, which is odd to look at as the car misses out on the 3D holographics LED taillights of the top-spec. The rear bumper has been redesigned with the sporty black cladding and a diffuser with red accents. It also features the new NISMO-spec dual-tone alloys.
Interior changes
Step inside and you will be welcomed by a familiar cabin design as seen on the standard version. However, differentiating it are the new sporty bits that include the red stitching, NISMO badges, custom digital cockpit graphics, matte suede fabric, and optional Recaro race bucket seats with red leather upholstery.
There are no changes made to the features list on the NISMO Leaf. Some of its key features include wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless phone charging pad, electronic parking brake, powered front seats, LED cabin lights, and more.
Technical changes
Sadly, the NISMO version of the Leaf EV does not get a powerful battery or any improvement in the power figures. However, the engineers have retuned its chassis for more stable handling, added a new NISMO driving mode that crisps the throttle response, and new NISMO-calibrated paddle shifter brake regeneration to make the car more aggressive.
Additionally, the new Leaf NISMO EV features revised anti-roll bars, new springs, new swing-valve shock absorbers, and a recalibrated steering wheel for a better response. The final bit includes the new Michelin Pilot Sport 5 tyres that offer better grip.
The base B5 version of the Leaf NISMO is powered by the 53 kWh battery pack that offers 174 bhp. Meanwhile, the range-topping B7 NISMO gets the 75 kWh battery pack that offers 214 bhp of power.
When will the Nissan Leaf NISMO EV launch?
The new Leaf NISMO EV is now on sale in Japan from around AED 146,900. However, Nissan is yet to launch the new-generation Leaf EV in the UAE. We expect that it could be introduced in the GCC market by the end of this year.
