Top 5 highlights of the new Kia EV2 explained
1. Compact and spacious design

The EV2 is Kia’s sixth electric car, and it is based on the E-GMP platform, which is already used for the EV3 and EV4 models. However, despite the same platform, it is the smallest EV of the brand, and it is also expected to be the most affordable as well.
Speaking of its design, it offers an overall boxy shape that is intended to offer a spacious cabin. Kia has kept its design modern with the use of its signature cues like the ‘tiger front’ that has the dual split vertical LED headlights, corner-positioned LED taillights, and a tallboy shape.

The EV2 gets a load of body cladding, and it rides on dual-tone aerodynamic wheels that range from 16- to 18-inch for the regular variants, and 19-inch for the GT-Line variants. The GT-Line also adds sporty bumpers for a better visual appeal.
The EV2 measures 4,060 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width, and 2,565 mm in height. The tall height offers ample headroom for the rear passengers.
2. Two battery options

The EV2 is powered by two battery packs: a 42.2 kWh and a 61 kWh NMC. The 42.2 kWh battery offers a WLTP-claimed range of 317 km on a full charge. Meanwhile, the 61 kWh battery pack is rated for up to 488 km of range.
Kia will offer the EV2 in Standard Range and Long Range variants, where the Long Range variants will get a 136 bhp electric motor, while the Standard Range variants will get a 147 bhp electric motor. There will also be an option for AWD variants.
Since the EV2 is based on a 400V architecture, it supports fast charging. Kia has not revealed its charging time, but we suspect it will offer 10-80% charge in 30 minutes or less.
3. Spacious cabin

As the EV2 has been designed by keeping affordability and practicality in mind, it offers a roomy cabin. Buyers can opt for a 4-seater or a 5-seater layout as per their convenience.
The 4-seater option gets reclining rear seats and offers up to 403 litres of cargo space. Meanwhile, the 5-seater option will offer 363 litres of cargo space. All variants do get a 15-litre frunk for storing portable chargers.
The overall design of the cabin is similar to the Kia Syros. The EV2 gets premium quality interiors with high levels of comfort, fit and finish. The dashboard gets a triple-connected screen display with twin 12.3-inch screens for infotainment and instrument cluster, and a 5-inch screen for HVAC controls, along with a two-spoke steering wheel.
4. Modern technology
Kia has equipped the EV2 with all modern bells and whistles. It gets comfort features like reclining rear seats, a panoramic sunroof, ambient lights, dual-zone AC, electric front seats with ventilation, digital key 2.0, and more.
Meanwhile, customers can enjoy the modern wireless features like wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless charging, Harman Kardon sound system, and even the Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) to charge camping items like a coffee machine, etc.
5. Relevance to the UAE buyers

Kia has been actively launching the latest models in the UAE and the Middle Eastern car markets. The new EV2 makes a lot more sense for the UAE, as the region is consistently expanding its electric infrastructure and dependence on EVs.
The fact that Chinese carmakers like BYD, Yangwang, Geely, etc, are doing well shows that the EV2 will be a worthy opponent in the highly competitive EV car segment of the UAE.
Cars24 UAE says
The new Kia EV2 is not only the smallest electric car from Kia, but it also offers a good mix of practicality and comfort. It is loaded with all the modern bells and whistles, and also has autonomous safety features. Meanwhile, the availability of various batteries and powertrains will cater for a wider range of audience internationally.
