Hyundai has taken the cover off its new-generation Tucson SUV in the international market, departing from its curvy and sleek design to the new ‘Art of Steel’ design language. The new Tucson will be launched in South Korea later this year, and it could follow the UAE market by early next year.

2027 Hyundai Tucson: Everything we know so far

New platform, bigger size

While the complete production prototype of the new-gen Tucson is yet to be unveiled in Korea, the official photos showcase that the new-gen model will boast a radical design overhaul. Gone is the curvy design language seen on the current Tucson, which is now replaced by the new ‘angular-looking’ boxy SUV that has also grown in size.

The increase in size is immediately evident. The new-gen Tucson now measures 4.7 metres in length, which makes it 60mm longer than the outgoing version. Additionally, the wheelbase is increased by 30mm, while the width is now 40mm wider. Even the height has increased by 20mm.

In terms of styling, the fascia now features a sharp, connected daytime running LED light, an angular bumper design, and a boxy silhouette. Similarly, the side profile features the angular and sharp protruding cuts on the rear quarter. Additionally, the new dual-tone alloys feature a futuristic design, which is also expected to be carried over on the production-spec model.

The rear profile also features a similar design trait, including the sharp connected lightbar, an upright stance, vertical LED taillights, a roof-mounted spoiler, and silver garnishing on the bumper.

Interior updates

A major step-up that you’ll notice is on the inside. The whole cabin has been redesigned with Hyundai’s new Pleos infotainment screen placed in the centre. The conventional instrument console has been replaced with a slim digital driver console, while an augmented reality head-up display will act as a real-time car telemetry display.

The other new design bits include a stepped dashboard design, a new two-spoke steering wheel, redesigned seats, ambient lighting, and soft-touch dual-tone leather upholstery. Hyundai has also redesigned the rear door opening angle, which now opens 10 degrees more than the outgoing model, giving easier ingress and egress.

Even the rear headroom has increased by 29 mm, which should offer a substantial upgrade in comfort for the rear passengers. The good part is the retention of the physical control buttons for the essential features like the AC and seat adjustment.

Hybrid powertrain coming soon

Hyundai is also reported to offer a set of new powertrains. These are likely to include a turbocharged petrol engine, a naturally aspirated petrol engine, and a new hybrid engine. The latter will be the first for the Tucson nameplate, and it is rumoured to be a 1.6-litre engine paired to a battery and a single motor, delivering high fuel efficiency and quick performance.

It depends on the market whether Hyundai will launch the hybrid engine or not. But we can safely say that it is expected to make it to the UAE market.

When will it launch?

The new-generation Tucson will launch in South Korea later this year. We expect it to launch in the UAE by mid-2027. The current model is priced in the UAE from AED 101,850. We suspect that the new-generation Tucson will be positioned higher than the current version.
