Hyundai has revealed the fifth-generation Tucson SUV in South Korea. The 2027 Hyundai Tucson has grown in size, gets a more powerful hybrid engine, and comes loaded with features that are assisted by the car’s central intelligence system, which can even reverse it automatically in tight spaces.
What is new on the 2027 Hyundai Tucson?
New exterior design, bigger dimensions
The first change that you will immediately see is the big size of the new-generation Tucson. The SUV is now 60 mm longer, 40 mm wider, and has a 30 mm longer wheelbase than the previous model. Not only that, but the new design now offers 10 degrees more rear door opening angle and 29 mm more headroom for the rear passengers.
Leaving aside the numbers, the exterior design is all new, as it is inspired by the ‘Art of Steel’ design philosophy. The new-generation Tucson now uses sharp lines, a boxy overall profile, big wheel arches, and sharp connected LED lights on both ends, along with the rugged body cladding. The new look has completely departed from the curvy design of the outgoing model.
Futuristic interior and new features
Step inside, and the new 2027 Tucson offers a completely redesigned cabin. The interior is all new, and you will be pleased by the use of a light cabin theme and leather upholstery with soft-touch materials all around.
The all-new dashboard packs Hyundai’s latest Pleos Connect central infotainment system. This system uses smart AI-assisted features that can adjust almost everything inside the SUV, including comfort, convenience and safety assist features.
There is a slim digital driver cockpit and a new augmented reality HUD that helps the driver to know every necessary detail while driving. Hyundai has added features such as new mood lights, a Bose sound system, front seats with electric adjustment, ventilation, Boss Mode, dual-zone climate control, panoramic sunroof, electric boot with gesture control, etc.
However, the talking point is the new ‘Memory Reverse Assist’ feature. This feature works in sync with the car’s central intelligence system and sensors to remember how you parked in a tight spot. The car then reads this data and assesses before it automatically reverses out of such spots. This is a first-in-segment feature.
Hyundai has also added new safety features like the ‘Pedal Misoperation Assist’. This feature prevents accidental pressing of the accelerator instead of the brake by using ADAS. Moreover, it activates automatically when the accelerator is pressed hard while the car is stopped or moving slowly.
Not only that, but Hyundai has also added a new ‘Door Unlock Power Redundancy’ feature. This system is powered by an auxiliary source that helps unlock the car doors if the car is crashed and the main battery is not working. Certain markets, like China, are making rules related to door handles, which is why Hyundai has designed this safety feature.
More powerful engine specs
Since the latest announcement of the 2027 Tucson is only for South Korea as of now, the Korean-spec SUV will be offered with engine options as follows:
- 1.6-litre TGDI four-cylinder turbo petrol engine. This unit makes 190 bhp as opposed to 177 bhp previously. This is a gain of 13 bhp.
- 1.6-litre Hybrid petrol engine that makes 242 bhp as opposed to 232 bhp previously. This is a gain of 10 bhp.
Additionally, the hybrid engine offers 17.4 km/l of claimed fuel economy. It also gets a new Stay Mode and higher braking regeneration to offer more efficiency.
Hyundai has not announced a plug-in hybrid or a diesel engine for the South Korean market. These can be introduced in other international markets next year.
When will the 2027 Hyundai Tucson launch in the UAE?
Hyundai will officially launch the fifth-generation Tucson in South Korea in October 2026. The prices will then be announced. As far as the UAE is concerned, we believe that the new-generation 2027 Tucson will arrive next year.
