Mitsubishi has revealed the fifth-generation Pajero SUV in the global market. The 2027 Mitsubishi Pajero is expected to launch in the UAE next year, and it will offer a seven-seater layout and the brand’s Super Select 4WD-II.

2027 Mitsubishi Pajero: Design, dimensions and platform

The new-generation Pajero is based on the Mitsubishi Triton’s ladder-frame chassis. Mitsubishi engineers have altered it with high-tensile-strength steel to increase the rigidity and sturdiness of the new chassis.

The new Pajero has grown in size substantially. It now measures as follows:

  • Length: 4,920 mm
  • Height: 1,910 mm
  • Width: 1,925 mm
  • Wheelbase: 2,870 mm
  • Ground clearance: 230 mm

If we compare it with the Toyota Fortuner, it measures 125 mm longer, 70 mm wider, 75 mm taller, and has a 125 mm longer wheelbase. This means that it is now comparable with the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado and the Nissan Patrol in terms of size.

The exterior design of the new Pajero features a conventional SUV three-box design. The SUV looks muscular with rugged bumpers, upright stance, 20-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, big window glasses, and sharp LED daytime running lights at the front, sleek LED taillights, and dual-tone colour options.

However, it does miss out on the tailgate-mounted spare wheel that the fourth-generation Pajero came with. The rear design is now conventional and modern.

2027 Mitsubishi Pajero: Interior and features

On the inside, the new Pajero packs a seven-seater configuration. The cabin sees a mix of practicality and luxury with dual-tone leather upholstery on the top-spec trims.

The dashboard now packs a dual-screen setup with 14.5-inch screens on the top variants and 12.3-inch screens on the lower variants. Although the four-spoke steering wheel does remind one of the old Pajero, the screens feature off-road telemetry and wireless features like Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, providing a perfect mix of smartness and luxury.

Moreover, it gets grab handles on the dashboard for the passenger and on the A-pillars, which are meant to provide support during off-roading. The climate control panel gets physical buttons as well as touch buttons.

The new Pajero is also rich in features as follows:

  • 12-speaker Sony sound system
  • Ambient lighting
  • Electric front seats with ventilation and memory features
  • 3-zone climate control
  • 360-degree camera
  • Underbody view camera
  • 8 airbags
  • ADAS safety: adaptive cruise control, auto emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, lane keep assist

2027 Mitsubishi Pajero: Engine specs and 4WD

2027 Mitsubishi Pajero front design

Powering the fifth-generation Pajero is the 2.4-litre four-cylinder turbo diesel engine. This engine is derived from the Triton, and it makes 201 bhp and 480 Nm, while being paired with an 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission.

This powertrain is paired with the trademark Super Select 4WD-II with four modes:

  • 2H: rear-wheel drive
  • 4H: full-time four-wheel drive
  • 4HLc: 4x4 with locked centre differential
  • 4LLc: locked centre differential with low-range

The new Pajero also gets a double-wishbone suspension with a five-link rigid rear axle. It also gets 900 mm of water wading capacity, which makes it a perfect dune-bashing SUV for the UAE.

Mitsubishi has also equipped the new Pajero with seven drive modes: Normal, Eco, Gravel, Mud, Snow, Sand, and Rock. The off-roading statistics of the new Pajero are as follows:

  • Approach angle: 30.4 degrees
  • Break-over angle: 22.6 degrees
  • Departure angle: 25.8 degrees

2027 Mitsubishi Pajero: UAE launch details

The new Pajero will go on sale in Thailand initially. Later, it will be followed by Japan and Australia by March 2027. We believe that it could be launched in the GCC and the UAE by mid-2027. Interestingly, it will be called ‘Pajero’ and not Pajero Sport. Meanwhile, certain markets will get it by the name of ‘Montero’.
