Mitsubishi has finally unveiled the fifth-generation Pajero after a break of 5 years from the global market. The 2027 Mitsubishi Pajero comes with a potent ladder-frame chassis and a 4WD system that offers extreme off-road capabilities along with modern luxury.

We believe that the new Pajero makes a strong case for the UAE’s car market, as it is bound to launch in the GCC early next year. Below are some key factors that could turn the 2027 Pajero into a winner in the UAE.

New platform and bigger size

The new-generation Pajero is based on the Mitsubishi Triton’s proven ladder-frame chassis. However, the brand has gone one step further and improved its rigidity for more stability, and altered its length to accommodate the wider and longer body of the new Pajero.

Even the exterior design of the new Pajero is completely new and modern. While it carries the traditional SUV styling with a boxy silhouette, the sharp elements like the connected LED headlights with horizontal slated grille, vertical LED taillights, and chunky 20-inch alloy wheels make up for a strong road presence - something that buyers in the UAE love.

With the grown size, the new Pajero now falls in the category of the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado. This factor will also help in achieving good sales in the UAE, as buyers will get a similarly-sized SUV at a considerably lower price. However, buyers will certainly miss the tailgate-mounted spare wheel.

The new Pajero measures as follows: 4,920 mm (length), 1,925 mm (width), and 1,910 mm (height). It even gets a 2,870 mm wheelbase, which is 20 mm longer than the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, making it more spacious for passengers.

Capable Super Select 4WD-II for dune-bashing

2027 Mitsubishi Pajero performance

The biggest draw for the 2027 Pajero is its 4x4 mechanism. Mitsubishi has kept the originality of the Pajero’s off-road capabilities. It comes with the brand’s trademark Super Select 4WD-II, which is essentially a 4x4 drivetrain.

This system gets four modes: 2H (rear-wheel drive), 4H (four-wheel drive), 4HLc (locked centre differential), and 4LLc (locked centre differential with low-range). Meanwhile, the new Pajero also gets seven drive modes: Eco, Normal, Gravel, Snow, Sand, Rock, and Mud.

The combination of these drive modes and the Super Select 4WD system makes the new Pajero a perfect off-road vehicle for dune-bashing in the UAE. Additionally, it gets 900 mm of water wading capacity and has 230 mm of ground clearance. This further makes it a perfect vehicle for off-roading in the Middle East.

Talking of the numbers, the 2027 Pajero has an approach angle of 30.4 degrees, a break-over angle of 22.6 degrees, and a departure angle of 25.8 degrees. These aren’t just numbers, but the real off-road capability of the new Pajero to tackle the tough UAE terrain.

Luxurious cabin for ultimate comfort

With the new-generation Pajero, Mitsubishi has also gone more luxurious. It gets a standard 7-seater configuration inside the cabin, while the complete interior is draped in dual-tone leather upholstery on the top trims.

There is generous space inside the cabin, which will easily accommodate large families in the UAE for long journeys. Additionally, the new Pajero gets a modern design with a vertical dashboard featuring soft-touch leather upholstery.

Designers have retained the old-school bits like a four-spoke steering wheel, while the dual-connected screen setup with 14.5-inch screens offers wireless connectivity and AI-assisted features. The new Pajero also gets luxurious features like: panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, cabin ambient LED lighting, a 12-speaker Yamaha sound system, electric front seat adjustment with memory function, a three-zone climate control, etc.

Strong diesel heart for rugged performance

The most crucial aspect of the 2027 Pajero is its strong engine. For now, the brand has revealed the new Pajero with a capable 2.4-litre four-cylinder turbo diesel engine sourced from the Triton pickup truck.

This engine is rated for 201 bhp and 480 Nm, and it is paired with an 8-speed transmission. The latter means that this engine will be suitable for long highway journeys, while offering high torque and good fuel economy.

Mitsubishi has also equipped it with an independent double wishbone suspension at the front and a five-link rigid rear axle for ruggedness and stability. It also features an Active Yaw Control (AYC), which uses the front brake to control the torque distribution between the front wheels.

These technologies are well designed as per the UAE’s harsh off-road driving conditions, which will allow users to enjoy the new Pajero without worrying about the toughness of the trails.

Top-notch safety for the UAE roads

Last but not least, we believe that the new Pajero’s safety features will be a big boon for customers looking for a full-size seven-seater family SUV in the UAE. The new Pajero comes with 8 airbags as standard, and gets ABS, EBD, Brake Assist, Electronic Parking Brake, ISOFIX rear seats, etc, as standard.

Meanwhile, it also gets a 360-degree surround view along with an underbody view to assess off-road situations easily. The company has also added a Level 2 ADAS safety suite, which includes adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring, rear-cross traffic alert, and more.

Cars24 UAE says

The new 2027 Mitsubishi Pajero is bound to launch in the Middle East by March 2027, as confirmed by the company. It will offer a potential seven-seater option among big SUVs like the Ford Everest, Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, and Nissan Patrol. We believe that it will be a perfect 4x4 full-size SUV for buyers in the UAE who are looking for a reliable workhorse that can also have some fun off-road.
