Mitsubishi has finally confirmed the global reveal date of the fifth-generation Pajero SUV. The UAE-bound 2027 Mitsubishi Pajero will debut on September 2, 2026, in Australia. It will share its underpinnings with the Mitsubishi Triton pickup truck, and it will grow bigger in size than the previous generation model.

2027 Mitsubishi Pajero: What do we know so far?

The next-generation Pajero has received a debut date. Mitsubishi will unveil the much-anticipated new-generation Pajero, aka Montero in certain markets, on September 2. The global unveiling will also mark the beginning of the fifth generation of the Pajero name in the global market.

While the brand refuses to share details, the teaser campaign has already confirmed critical bits about it. First, it will be based on the Mitsubishi Triton pickup truck. The latter is sold in the South Asian and Australian markets, and it is popular for its workhorse reliability.

To be based on the Triton pickup

Additionally, it will feature the S-AWC, aka 4x4 in Mitsubishi’s nomenclature. This is an adaptive 4WD system that works via a physical control button. The S-AWC is already offered on the Triton, and it comes with the Super Select 4WD-II on it. This system also gets multiple drive and traction modes like Gravel, Mud, Sand, Road, Snow, and Rock, which are expected to be offered on the new-generation Pajero as well.

We have already come across multiple spy shots of the upcoming Mitsubishi Pajero previously that confirmed its bigger size. Mitsubishi will position it against the Toyota Land Cruiser and Nissan Patrol in the global market; hence, the new Pajero will get wider, taller, and longer.

New design and features

The previous teasers have shown the large vertical LED daytime running lights and an illuminated Mitsubishi logo, which confirm that it will also get the modern design bits. Although Mitsubishi will keep things simple and reliable, design bits like flush door handles won’t be offered.

The interior design is also likely to undergo a similar upgrade. We expect it to offer six- and seven-seater layouts for the interior. Moreover, it is likely to offer a big vertical infotainment screen, digital driver screen, HUD, panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, multiple-zone climate control, ambient lighting, ADAS driving safety assist features, powered seats with ventilation, and more.

Diesel hybrid expected

Since it will share the platform with the Triton, it is widely anticipated that the new-generation Pajero will get a 2.4-litre twin-turbo diesel engine with a 48V mild-hybrid powertrain. This engine is likely to offer 200-210 bhp and 450-500 Nm of power and torque.

However, considering that Mitsubishi will launch it in the global market, like the Middle East, we can safely say that a petrol engine will also be offered - most likely. With that said, the new Pajero debuts next month, and we hope that Mitsubishi will launch it in the UAE and GCC markets early next year.
