Nissan has revealed the front design of its upcoming mid-size SUV, the Tekton. The new Nissan Tekton is based on the Renault-Nissan co-developed CMF-B platform, which is also used on the Renault Duster.

What to expect from the upcoming Nissan Tekton?

Speaking of the details, Nissan has been marketing the Tekton as “Baby Patrol”. The brand says that it shares its exterior design traits with its flagship SUV, the Nissan Patrol Y63.

The new Tekton does look like the “Baby Patrol” from the front, as it gets the connected LED lights, a red band running on the front grille with the Nissan logo, and a streamlined bumper with a vertical slatted grille. The overall look of the front resembles that of the Patrol SUV to a certain extent.

Nissan is yet to reveal its side and rear profile, but the earlier teaser photos have revealed the connected LED taillights and the overall elegant styling. Dimension-wise, the Tekton will be identical to the Renault Duster, save for a few millimetres.

The interior design will also resemble that of the Renault Duster. The only changes it will offer are likely to be a new cabin theme and Nissan badging. The features like the wireless charging, drive modes, panoramic sunroof, ADAS safety pack, etc, are likely to be offered as they are.

What will power the Nissan Tekton?

Since the Tekton will be based on the CMF-B platform, it will share its engine specifications with the Renault Duster. We suspect that the Tekton will get three engine options as follows:

  • 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol engine, 100 bhp, 6-speed manual gearbox, front-wheel drive.

  • 1.3-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol engine, 160 bhp and 280 Nm, 6-speed manual and 6-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, front-wheel drive.

  • 1.8-litre four-cylinder self-charging hybrid engine with a 1.4 kWh battery and two electric motors (49 bhp drive motor and 20 bhp starter motor), 160 bhp, 8-speed DHT transmission.

Will the Nissan Tekton be launched in the UAE?

UAE and the GCC market are Nissan’s top priority. However, the Tekton is made for the South Asian market, and it will initially be launched in India, later followed by other countries. We suspect that Nissan could bring the Tekton to the UAE next year.
