What is special about the Mahindra Thar Roxx ATV?

Revealed for the use of the Indian military forces, the new Thar Roxx ATV is a stripped-down version of the Thar Roxx SUV. The latter is a popular 5-door ladder-frame SUV that boasts a masculine design like a Jeep Wrangler, and offers a powerful off-road performance along with advanced features and tech like ADAS, leather seats, wireless charging, sunroof, and more.

Since the Thar Roxx ATV is meant for defence use, it boasts typical features for military. These include the tubular hinged doors, a roll cage, off-road bumpers with tow hooks and winch setup, steel rims that can withstand explosive impacts, mud-terrain tyres with go-anywhere capability, and more. 

It also packs gun mounts, jerry can holders, complete underbody protection, a windshield protector, and a front winch to pull the SUV out of complex terrains. Mahindra has also raised its ground clearance to make sure it can ferry soldiers and equipment without getting stuck somewhere.

Since it is meant for military use, the company has not revealed its exact specifications and performance details. However, the standard Thar Roxx is offered with two engine options: a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine that offers 175 bhp and 380 Nm, and a 2.2-litre turbo diesel engine that makes 172 bhp and 400 Nm. Both of these engines are paired with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed AT gearbox option. The 4x4 drivetrain is standard on it.

Is it meant for dune-bashing?

Mahindra Thar Roxx ATV might be meant for the Indian military, but it holds a strong contender in itself for the UAE and the Middle East car market. The Thar Roxx is a perfect 5-door SUV that packs punchy engine options and a heavy-duty suspension that can tackle the dune-bashing in the UAE with ease.

Moreover, Thar Roxx is priced at just AED 48,000 in India, which makes it substantially cheaper than cars like the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado and Mitsubishi Pajero, which are used for dune-bashing sports in the Middle East.
