What is the new Dubai RTA road project?
As per the official details released by the RTA officials, the new road project aims to improve the commute on the Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan street, Al Wir road, and Al Manama junction street by expanding the road network and improving the traffic flow.
This is a busy route that has been specifically selected for the road project as it connects the major residential areas and remains busy throughout the day. The new project includes road widening, new bridge constructions, and redesigned junctions with better entry and exit ramps.
What all will change in this project?

The new RTA project includes the construction of 2.3-kilometre bridges on the selected route, which is likely to reduce the traffic congestion on the roundabouts and between the major intersections.
Moreover, Dubai RTA will remove the biggest roundabout and replace it with a grade-separated interchange for easy traffic flow without vehicles having to stop at the traffic signal.
Meanwhile, the Sheikh bin Hamdan Al Nahyan street will be widened from two to four lanes on both sides to double the traffic flow capacity. Additionally, new entry/exit ramps will be made for easy interchange.
Dubai RTA also plans to revamp the Al Manama roundabout with the new paved road and a smarter signalling system to ease congestion. Additionally, Al Awir Road will be connected with the Emirates Road with a new bridge intersection.
How will this project help?
With the above-mentioned changes, Dubai RTA plans to reduce the travel time from 20 minutes to just 5 minutes. Upon completion, the traffic flow capacity will increase by 176 percent on the designated route.
For comparison, the current traffic capacity on this route is 5,200 vehicles, which is set to be increased to 14,400 vehicles per day.
Additionally, RTA will make new service roads along the Al Awir Road and Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Street for safer entry/exit so that the residential neighbourhood does not get interrupted by the new, wide highway.
When will the new Dubai RTA project be completed?
The completion timeline for this project’s third phase/the final phase, ia by 2028.
