Toyota Land Cruiser FJ - What do we know so far?

The latest spotting of the Land Cruiser FJ test mule shows that Toyota has carried forward the pre-production design as it is on the final model. The test, although camouflaged, was recently seen testing in South Asia in city traffic.
The test car had a similar design to the car showcased at the Japan Mobility Show last year. It is based on the ladder-frame IMV platform, which is also used on the Toyota Fortuner and the Toyota Innova globally.
Toyota will position the Land Cruiser FJ under the Fortuner, and it will focus on functionality and utility. The test car portrays that the final product will offer a boxy silhouette, which is typical of a utility-friendly SUV.
Additionally, it has big squared flared wheel arches, 215 mm ground clearance (as per the official data), and it gets the tailgate-mounted spare wheel, functional roof rails, and better approach/departure angles for easy off-roading.
While the front design could not be spotted, the rear design shows that it carries forward the same C-shaped LED taillights as the pre-production version. We assume that the front will also offer the C-shaped LED headlamps and a rugged body kit all around.
In terms of dimensions, it will measure 4,575 mm in length, 1,855 mm in width, and 1,960 mm in height, making it the tallest Land Cruiser model on sale. It will have a wheelbase of 2,580 mm, offering decent space for five people on the inside.
Interior and features of the Land Cruiser FJ
The cabin details are yet to be revealed, but we suspect that it will offer the same cabin as showcased on the pre-production car. If so, it will offer a black layout with utility-based design, including plenty of storage spaces and modern features.
The pre-production car showcased last year had the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid-inspired cabin. It is likely to get a three-spoke steering wheel, a vertical dashboard with twin connected screens, wireless connectivity, and features like rear AC vents, dual-zone AC, sunroof, ventilated seats, wireless charging, and more.
The production-spec Land Cruiser FJ is also likely to get equipped with round AC vents, Level 2 ADAS safety features, terrain modes, traction control, a 360-degree camera, and more.
Engine specs
Although unclear, the online speculations hint that the Toyota Land Cruiser FJ will feature the 2.7-litre 2TR-FE four-cylinder petrol engine. It will be paired with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission, and it is likely to offer 161 bhp of peak power and 246 Nm of torque.
Toyota will offer the Land Cruiser FJ with a 4WD and electronically-locking differentials as standard. There is also a possibility of adding strong hybrid engine options in the future.
When will it launch in the UAE?
Toyota had previously announced that the Land Cruiser FJ is its global model and it will be made available in most of the international markets, certainly including the UAE. We suspect that it will launch in the UAE sometime in early 2028. It could be priced around AED 120,000-140,000.
Cars24 UAE says
The upcoming Toyota Land Cruiser FJ looks promising as a utility-friendly SUV. Its compact size and its potential-filled drivetrain are likely to offer a perfect product to the Middle Eastern car buyers. More details are likely to be unveiled in the coming days.
