Jetour T2 PHEV to launch in India soon - Details
Recently, JSW Group, a big industrial firm known for producing high-grade steel, has tied up with Chery to launch its first automotive venture in India. The company will be called JSW Motors, and the Jetour T2 will become its first-ever product in India.
JSW Group already has a high stake in MG as well, and it is certainly eyeing the Chinese cars as a good asset to establish itself among the pool of throat-cutting rivals in India.
The Jetour T2 is a popular plug-in hybrid SUV in the UAE. Jetour, a subsidiary of Chery, has designed the T2 for the harsh conditions of the Middle East. The T2 has a design identical to the Land Rover Defender, but offers certain unique bits like the quad-LED lights, a rugged body kit, and a luxurious cabin.
The Jetour T2 is a 5-seater SUV, and it measures 4.7 metres, with a 2.8-metre wheelbase. These dimensions place it against the rivals like Tata Sierra in India, which is a newly launched SUV and is highly popular as well.
Interior and features of the Jetour T2
On the inside, the T2 offers a comfortable driving position with its sorted ergonomics and a plush cabin design with dual-tone leather upholstery. It is also loaded with features such as driving modes, high-grade aluminium panels, frameless interior rear view mirror with auto-dimming, panoramic sunroof, a 15.6-inch touchscreen, a 10,25-inch digital instrument console, wireless connectivity, and more.
Jetour has also equipped the T2 with segment-best safety features, including the Level 2 ADAS, which includes the Adaptive Cruiser Control, Auto Emergency Braking, Lane Keep and Departure Assist, Blind Spot Monitoring, Rear-Cross Traffic alert, and more.
Engine specs and range
In the UAE, the Jetour T2 is available with a 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol engine, which is paired with a 26.7 kWh battery pack. This engine produces 154 bhp standalone.
Meanwhile, its EV powertrain offers a pure electric range of up to 139 km (NEDC), and has a total power output of 221 bhp and 390 Nm of torque. It is available in AWD and RWD versions in the UAE.
As far as the pricing is concerned, the Jetour T2 is available in the UAE at AED 144,000-179,000. However, it is expected to be priced in India around INR 35-40 lakh.

The availability of the Jetour T2 in India is a big step for Chery as a carmaker. While the Indian government restrains the Chinese cars, the success of the Jetour T2 in the UAE is likely to be seen in the Indian market as well, with JSW Motors backing it up.
