2026 Nissan Leaf EV - Design

The third-generation Nissan Leaf electric has grown into a coupe-crossover. It boasts a very clean and dynamic design language, which emphasises Nissan's current design philosophy.

It gets a sloping roof design, which is complemented by the sedan-like uplifted boot lid and integrated spoiler for better aerodynamics. At the front, the Leaf EV is equipped with a connected LED lightbar with vertical DRLs.

It also features an illuminated Nissan logo and active front aero dams, which divert the air as per the speed and direction to boost the performance. Meanwhile, the side profile has the NCAS charger port on the front fender and 19-inch wheels (optional), along with flush-type door handles.

The rear design of the Nissan Leaf EV is unique as it takes inspiration from the Nissan Z sports car. It is also the first-ever Nissan car to be equipped with the 3D holographic LED taillights.

The cabin of the new Nissan Leaf electric is focused on minimalism and simplicity. The interiors feature a fresh cabin design with redesigned seats, dashboard, and the centre console for better space and comfort.

Additionally, it gets a new 14.2-inch dual-screen display for the instrument console and the infotainment system. Meanwhile, the steering wheel design is also new with a two-spoke layout and a flat-bottom cut.

2026 Nissan Leaf EV - Battery specs and range

Nissan has unveiled the new Leaf EV in two battery packs: 52 kWh (standard) and 75 kWh (performance).

The 52 kWh standard version is mated to a front-wheel drive 174 bhp and 345 Nm producing electric motor. It can do a claimed range of up to 436 km on a single charge.

Meanwhile, the 75 kWh battery pack produces 214 bhp of peak power and 355 Nm of peak torque. The best part is that it can cover a range of up to 603 km on a single charge.

With that said, Nissan has equipped the new Leaf EV with liquid-cooled lithium-ion batteries. Moreover, it gets a 3-in-1 powertrain, which integrates the motor, inverter, and the power control unit together, thus freeing up space and making the car more efficient and lightweight.

Additionally, it supports rapid charging of up to 150 kW, which can provide a quick range top-up during long trips.
