What is the new 2026 BMW M3 CS Handschalter?

The all-new BMW M3 CS Handschalter has been unveiled for the US and Canadian car markets. Handschalter in German means hand-shift, hence it gets a manual 6-speed gearbox that makes it a complete driver’s dream.

It is powered by the S583.0-litre inline-six turbo petrol engine that develops 473 bhp and 550 Nm of power and torque. It is paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox and gets a rear-wheel drive configuration as standard.

With this setup, it can sprint 0-100 km/h in 4.1 seconds. The claimed top speed of the M3 CS Handschalter is 290 km/h. In comparison to its AWD automatic sibling variant, it delivers 57 bhp and 100 Nm less, but the manual gearbox and reduced weight ensure that driving fun remains higher.

Additionally, the suspension height of the M3 CS Handschalter can be lowered by up to 6 mm to make it track-spec. This can be done by installing the new springs and a new axle link. Buyers can also opt for the carbon ceramic brakes that can save 14 kg more.

Exterior, interior, features of the BMW M3 CS Handschalter

Exterior design

Visually, it features a set of yellow ‘Snake-Eye’ LED DRLs and the frameless kidney grille at the front, which differentiates it from the standard M3. The grille also features the M3 CS badge, which further distinguishes it from the rest of the variants.

Other changes include the carbon fibre bonnet, roof, mirror covers, and black highlights on the grille, bumpers, and splitters. It also gets the forged 19-inch front and 20-inch rear lightweight alloy wheels.

Customers in the US and Canadian market will be able to choose from four exterior colours: Isle of Man Green, Imola Red, Sapphire Black, and Techno Violet.

Interior changes

On the inside, the M3 CS Handschalter features the M Carbon bucket sports seats. These seats are claimed to offer more grip for the front passengers along with lightweight construction.

Meanwhile, the rest of the cabin is similar to the AWD version, save for the new M Drive Professional suite in the infotainment system, which adds track-oriented functionalities like M Laptimer to track lap times and drive telemetry, M Drift Analyser to rate the drifts, and 10-step M Traction Control for drifting.

Features

The features of the new M3 CS Handschalter include the 3-zone climate control, electrically adjustable front seats with ventilation and heater, an augmented reality HUD, electronic parking brake, electric tailgate, and a 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system.

When will it launch?

BMW has destined only a handful of units of the M3 CS Handschalter for the US and Canada. It is highly unlikely to get launched in the Middle East until someone decides to import it from the West.
