Toyota has updated the Land Cruiser Prado in Japan with much-needed feature updates. The 2026 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado comes with a new anti-theft feature, along with a new exterior colour and other updates. Read further details below.

What is new on the 2026 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado?

Exterior changes

The 2026 Land Cruiser Prado 250 remains largely unchanged from the previous version. However, it now gets a new Neutral Black exterior paint shade that replaces the Black paint on the previous model.

Moreover, the VX trim now gets the optional oval bi-beam projector headlight, which was earlier available only on the First Edition model. There is also a new Sand paint option, which offers a combination of black elements, making it look perfect for the Middle East.

Interior feature updates

Other updates include the inclusion of electric front row seats with memory function on the VX trim. The VX variant also gets the latest Toyota Advanced Drive system, including assistant features like the traffic jam assistant, lane change assistant, and a front-collision alert system.

Moreover, it now features a new steering wheel camera that monitors the driver for drowsiness or SOS. It also features an emergency steering function, where the car will drive itself to a halt in case the driver is not responding.

Another problem that the Land Cruiser Prado owners were facing in Japan was high theft. Approximately 30% car thefts in Japan include the Land Cruiser Prado. Hence, Toyota has introduced a new anti-theft feature on the new model.

The anti-theft features include key-to-key vehicle proximity detection, which prevents the engine from starting if the key is not close to the car. Toyota T-Connect My Smart Lock system has also been introduced, which helps the owners to switch off/disable the engine via smartphone.

However, the latter of the above systems is only available on the petrol version, and the diesel Land Cruiser Prado is likely to receive it soon.

Engine specs

Toyota has not altered the engine specs of the 2026 Land Cruiser Prado. It gets a 2.7-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that offers 163 PS and 246 Nm, while being paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission and a 4WD, offering 7.5 km/l of fuel efficiency.

Toyota also offers a 2.8-litre turbo diesel engine on the new Land Cruiser Prado, which makes 204 PS and 500 Nm. It is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and a 4WD system, while offering 11 km/l of fuel economy.

When will the 2026 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado launch?

The new Land Cruiser Prado is now available in Japan, and we expect it to be launched in the UAE by mid-2026. It will be priced above the current AED 199,900 starting price.
