Land Rover has revealed the updated Defender SUV for the global market. The new 2027 Land Rover Defender brings along a new Vertex variant, new exterior colour, a six-seater configuration for the Defender 110 variant, and a detuned Octa variant.
2027 Land Rover Defender: What has been updated?
New Vertex variant introduced

The biggest update on the 2027 Defender is the addition of the new Vertex variant. The Vertex edition is positioned alongside the X variant, and it focuses on urban styling and a premium outlook, rather than an outright off-roader appeal.
Although cosmetic, the changes on the Defender Vertex make it stand apart from the rest of the variants. It gets redesigned bumpers with Satin Silver Matte highlights, a new front grille, body-coloured lower body cladding, a body-coloured spare wheel cover, new fog lights, and new 22-inch Satin Dark Grey alloy wheels. Buyers can also opt for the 22-inch Gloss Black or 20-inch Satin Dark Grey alloy wheels for an extra amount.

Alongside the present exterior colour options that include the Fuji White, Carpathain Grey, Borasco Grey, Patagonia White Matte Wrap, Woolstone Grey, and Santorini Black, Land Rover has also introduced a new colour called ‘Namib Orange’.

On the inside, the updated Defender features the new Windsor leather mixed with Forged Textile upholstery as a standard fitment across the range. Land Rover says that the Forged Textile has been carved out of 100 per cent knitted polyester. Other key features include the triple- and four-zone climate control that varies depending on the variant, air quality sensor, and a domestic power socket for charging camping equipment, etc.
More seats for Defender 110

Moving to the Defender 110, which also happens to be the most popular Defender model, now gets a new six-seater configuration. The new seating plan replaces the bench seats for the second row of the previous model. With all captain seats now, third-row passengers will not only have more legroom, but also get easy ingress and egress. The storage spaces have also increased due to the captain seats.
Defender Octa becomes less powerful

While the latest update brings positive changes, the Defender Octa has undergone detuning due to strict emission norms in certain regions like Europe. As per the company, the second catalytic converter was added, which has reduced the peak power from 626 bhp to 523 bhp due to the Euro 6e emission norms.
However, the peak torque remains unaltered at 750 Nm. Moreover, the reduced power output vehicles will be sold only in the regions that comply with Euro 6e emission norms. So, this eliminates the UAE and the Middle Eastern markets.
With that said, the updated 2027 Land Rover Defender could be launched in the UAE later this year. Meanwhile, you can check out the used Land Rover cars in Dubai with Cars24 UAE.
