Toyota GR GT - Everything you need to know

After years of development, Toyota’s answer to the Mercedes AMG GT is here. The brand has unveiled its upcoming two-door sports car and its race sibling that will compete in the GT3 racing in the future.

The all-new GR GT is based on a complete aluminium chassis that extensively uses forged carbon fibre parts on the exteriors. The overall design of the GR GT is way more aggressive than its rivals, as it features a low-slung, wide grin, and a long wheelbase for the perfect chassis balance.

The GR GT sits on the 20-inch lightweight rims draped with the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres, while the braking duties are done by the Brembo carbon ceramic brakes, and a double-wishbone suspension takes care of the chassis balance, which offers a 45:55 ratio of weight distribution. The GR GT is a RWD setup car, and it is still under development. Toyota claims that it will weigh 1,750 kg or even less when it completes the development.

Meanwhile, the aggressive design of the GR GT is bluntly displayed by its sculpted bonnet with sharp LED lights and a ducktail rear with an integrated spoiler and a connected LED taillight with big air dams and an in-built splitter in the rear bumper. It also gets the quad exhaust tips.

Engine specs and dimensions

Speaking of the engine, the GR GT is based on an all-new 4.0-litre V8 twin-turbo engine that is rated to offer 641 bhp and 850 Nm, which is set to be “increased” on the production-spec.

The GR GT also features a dry-sump lubrication system and a rear-mounted eight-speed transaxle automatic transmission. The lightweight chassis and the electric motors mated to this powerful engine will ensure a staggering performance.

As per the details, Toyota aims to hit a 320 km/h top speed with the stock car. If so, it will become the most powerful Toyota sports car ever made.

Speaking of its dimensions, the GR GT is as follows:

  • Length - 4,820 mm
  • Width - 2,000 mm
  • Height - 1,195 mm
  • Wheelbase - 2,725 mm

Interiors and features

While Toyota has yet to reveal all the details of the GR GT, the interior images showcase a beautiful cabin design that looks inspired by the Lexus LC500.

It bears a red and black leather upholstery, with a D-cut steering wheel, a digital instrument console with new UI, a floating infotainment console, and enthusiastic ergonomics to drive the car aggressively.

However, with its long wheelbase and modern technology, customers will be easily able to find a mix of comfort and performance in the cabin.

When will it launch?

Toyota has not disclosed when it will reveal the production-spec car, but the brand has certainly disclosed that the GR GT will go on sale in 2027 in the international market.

Will it launch in the UAE?

As far as the UAE is concerned, it is Toyota’s top most market. The luxury models of Toyota like the Land Cruiser, are always in demand in the UAE and the other Middle Eastern countries. Therefore, we firmly believe that the GR GT will also be introduced in the UAE by 2027-end.

Cars24 UAE says

The new Toyota GR GT and the GR GT3 cars are going to become the new pinnacle of engineering and performance amongst their respective segments. Toyota has taken its sweet time to craft these new sports cars, which look promising in every true sense.
