The latest Kia Carens Clavis MPV has made its global debut in the Indian market today. It is suspended on the Carens MPV platform, and it will debut in the UAE car market possibly by the end of this year.

Kia Carens Clavis - Design

The new Kia Carens Clavis is based on the Carens MPV platform. In fact, it is largely identical to the Carens MPV, but features critical design and outlook changes.

The front fascia has been completely redesigned with inspirations taken from the Kia EV9. It gets a new connected LED headlamp setup, a new front grille, and a redesigned bumper for a cleaner look.

On the side profile, the Clavis looks similar to the Carens standard model. The only notable change is the new dual-tone 17-inch alloy wheels.

At the rear, the Clavis MPV gets a new set of connected LED taillights, a new bumper, and the new Carens Clavis badge.

Kia Carens Clavis - Interiors

The major update on the Clavis has been done inside. The cabin of the Clavis features a redesigned dashboard, which is identical to the latest Kia models, like the Kia EV4.

It features the trademark connected curved display with twin 10.25-inch screens for the infotainment and speedometer. The AC controls have been kept limited to the physical buttons, unlike the latest Kia models.

Additionally, the steering wheel has been changed to a new two-spoke D-cut design, which comes leather-wrapped on the top trims.

The Carens Clavis is available in 7-seater and 6-seater variants. The seats have been redesigned for better support and enhanced cushioning.

Kia Carens Clavis - Features

In terms of features, the Carens Clavis gets the new connected screen, a digital cockpit, new voice commands, ambient lighting, leather upholstery, wireless phone charging, front seats with electric adjustment and cooling functions, electronic parking brake, wireless phone connectivity, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, a panoramic sunroof, and more.

It also gets a 360-degree parking camera, which acts as a monitor in city driving conditions.

For the rear passengers, it gets a separate AC unit, fast charging type-C ports, reclining second row seats, window curtains, and foldable third row seats.

Kia Carens Clavis - Engine and specifications

Internationally, Kia is offering three engine options on the Carens Clavis. These include a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine, and a 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engine.

Out of these, the first two petrol engine options are likely to be launched in the UAE.

The 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated engine develops 115 bhp of peak power, while the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine makes 160 bhp of peak power. 

While Kia is offering a choice of manual transmission on the global spec model, we suspect that the GCC-spec car will only get the automatic gearbox option as standard.

Kia Carens Clavis - Safety

Kia has loaded the Carens Clavis with standard 6 airbags, ABS, ESP, and ISOFIX rear seats. 

Additionally, the top-spec variants are loaded with the Level 2 ADAS autonomous safety features, including the adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring and assist, front collision avoidance assist, and more.

UAE launch timeline and price

Kia has not confirmed Carens Clavis's launch timeline for the UAE car market. However, the Kia Carens is already on sale in the UAE, and it is doing decent sales numbers.

We assume that the new Carens Clavis will launch in the UAE before the end of this year.

Since it is based on the Carens, its prices will be at least AED 10,000 - AED 50,000 higher than the Carens model. 

Our conclusion

The new Carens Clavis MPV is a more luxurious version of the Carens standard model. While it offers a similar cabin space, its luxurious features, advanced technology, and the latest design are bound to turn heads on the road.
