Audi Q5 Hybrid: What is it?

The new Q5 Hybrid offers the new-generation plug-in hybrid technology for the Q5 and the Q5 Sportback variants. 

While the design and dimensions of the Q5 Hybrid are identical to the standard model, it features an advanced battery system, which offers a long range.

The Q5 Hybrid is fitted with a new 25.6 kWh battery pack, which is mated to the powerful petrol engine, thus delivering an efficient and quick performance. 

The new Q5 Hybrid will be manufactured in Mexico, and its first batch will be delivered in the Q3 of 2025. 

Audi Q5 Hybrid: Engine specs and performance

The Q5 Hybrid is offered with a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, which is available in two power options: 295 bhp (220kW variant) and 362 bhp (270kW variant).

The standard Q5 Hybrid model is powered by the Quattro all-wheel drive 295 bhp engine. It is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. Moreover, it can do 0-100 km/h in just 6.2 seconds, with a top speed of 250 km/h.

Meanwhile, the Q5 Sportback Hybrid is powered by the Quattro 362 bhp engine, with a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox. At 5.1 seconds, it is quicker from 0-100 km/h than the standard Q5 Hybrid. The top speed for the Sportback is also limited to 250 km/h.

Both variants feature a new intelligent hybrid system along with an EV mode. It has two driving modes: EV and Hybrid. 

In EV mode, the car runs completely on battery power. Meanwhile, the Hybrid mode uses regen braking and battery charge to improve performance. 

It also gets different regen modes, which can be manually changed with the paddle shifters behind the steering wheel. This system recovers energy by referencing stored route data. 

Audi Q5 Hybrid: Battery, range, and charging

The biggest improvement on the new Q5 Hybrid is the addition of the new 25.9 kWh battery pack. This lithium-ion battery is 45% bigger than the outgoing battery pack, and it has a gross capacity of 20.7 kWh.

With the help of this new, efficient system, the Q5 Hybrid offers a WLTP-claimed pure electric range of up to 100 km. This is very beneficial for commutes within the city, as it saves fuel in the long run.

Additionally, the new battery pack has a quick charging time as well. It can be charged from 0-100% with an 11 kW AC charger in just 2.5 hours.

Audi Q5 Hybrid: New features

While the Q5 Hybrid is similar to the standard Q5, it gets unique feature updates.

The 220kW variant is equipped with the S sport suspension, a three-zone automatic climate control, and app store access. It also features the latest triple-screen dashboard with the latest Audi MMI software for a seamless wireless experience. 

Meanwhile, the 270kW variant is loaded with the new LED lighting upgrades, S-Line interiors, sports seats, and red brake callipers. Additionally, it gets equipped with a fully reclining rear row seating for added comfort and utility.

Audi Q5 Hybrid: UAE launch and price

The new Q5 Hybrid has been launched in Germany, while other markets like the UAE will get it by the end of this year. It is manufactured in Mexico, and the launch price is approximately AED 313,676.
