What to expect from the new generation Toyota Corolla?

Toyota has released the first set of photos of the next-generation Corolla concept car. The teaser photos come just days before its official unveiling, which is set to take place at the upcoming Japan Motor Show 2025 on October 29.

Speaking of the details, the new model looks radically different from the current Corolla sedan. The overall design silhouette looks inspired by the first-gen Prius HEV.

The front fascia has a small bonnet size, hinting at an EV version in the making. Moreover, it gets a closed grille and a set of new pixelated LED vertical headlights, which are connected through a lightbar. The aero support is provided by the small air inlet on the lower bumper and an outlet underneath the windscreen.

The side profile looks astonishing with the sloping beltline that converges into the A-pillar. The sporty roofline is complemented by the aerodynamic mirrors, dual-tone alloys, and flush door handles. There is also a charging port on the front fender, again confirming a PHEV or an EV drivetrain.

The rear profile is equipped with a ducktail spoiler, a flat tailgate with ‘Corolla’ lettering, and new connected, pixelated LED taillights. The size, dimensions and other details of the car will be revealed at the Japan Mobility Show 2025.

What engine will power the new Toyota Corolla?

As far as the technical details are concerned, Toyota will unveil them on the day of the debut, i.e. October 29, 2025. However, we suspect it will feature a new four-cylinder PHEV engine that will easily offer a combined range of over 1,000 km.

Although Toyota has yet to reveal details about its EV plans for the Corolla badge, we assume that this new generation Corolla will bring a pure electric version along with its debut.

When will it launch in the UAE?

While Toyota will unveil the new Corolla concept later this month, its production version will debut in Japan and other countries by late 2027.

Hence, the UAE car market is expected to get the new Corolla either by late 2027 or early 2028.

Our verdict

The Corolla nameplate is Toyota’s most successful product worldwide, and especially in the UAE. The current generation Corolla needs a thorough update, which this new generation model will bring in every possible manner. More details are likely to be revealed in the coming weeks.
